Quote from another Motoring Forum..

''was out for a hoon enjoying the glimpse of sunshine. Coming down the very tight and twisty road from crianlarich to tarbet - at the really narrow bit by tarbet when I witnessed the most breathtakingly stupid piece of overtaking by a couple of chavs in mitsubishi evos - and I've seen some daft overtaking in my time, but this was absolutely not the time nor place and they nearly wiped out a couple in a rover a couple ahead of me - the couple pulled over at the next parking spot and the driver was literally shaking...

now, with a brief web search for evo forums you come across the lancer register forum where the "Glasgow meet" today is detailed, and listed are pics of all the cars which passed as well as the "guilty" parties - one of which has his company website, phone numbers etc - so really ****in easy to trace the pillock.

So the question is, should I log on and tell them they were cocks and that they might want to make their web presence more discrete if they want to drive like that, or should I just leave it?

I'm so ****ed because its idiocy like this that gives performance car drivers a bad name - there's a difference between driving quick and seriously endangering other people.''

I just got back from driving that stretch today, its pretty lethal at the best of times, usually buses of fat tourists cutting cutting lanes but Id say out them.

That is a tricky section of road and it does not need people taking deliberate risks at all.
What was the decision? Even a message to the meet organiser stating what was witnessed and how it could jepordise the potential for enthusiasts to use that area for driving. There is a large trafpol prescense in that area and any groups would be easy targets.

I'm sure these idiots will get theirs in good time as i firmly believe in what goes around, comes around!!....however....Before you decide to report them for what sounds like some pretty dangerous overtaking...think about this......

The next time you're overtaking drivers in ordinary cars along B-roads and go hammering past them in your EVO or whatever you may be driving...pray they don't get the hump for whatever reason and report you for something which in your opinion was a safe action to take.

I know some people that have been reported for overtaking ordinary car drivers on B-roads and other roads, when they had done nothing wrong but quickly and sensibly overtaking someone that was clearly driving in the style of 'Driving Miss Daisy'. Overtaking in a safe manner is fine as far as i am concerned and safe is usually quick and easy in my book, so i see nothing wrong in that. However...others do and it's those people that worry me because they get others into trouble for no reason. These things unfortunately happen, and although i do not condone the actions of the Chavs in the EVO in any way shape or form i think this kind of thing is best left to the 'powers that be'.

So....following the 'What goes around..Comes around' ethos..either leave it to someone else to report or just let nature take it's course. These chavs will get theirs, in time...no doubt about it. Is this something you really want to do...if so, do it....however....i wouldn't, for the above reasons.

None of us were there so we can't comment.

I don't know the stretch of road you're talking about so I can only speak generally. Overtaking in a faster car (in the correct gear) can scare people as they don't know how you can make it. If you've carried out your observations correctly then you might know it is clear around the next corner. As 99% of drivers only look as far as the piece of road in front of them so an overtake in such a place might look suicidal.

I think you all need to look on the MLR to get the overtakers view. Most definitely not a "Chav", and he stood up and apologised!

Hope it works!
The Evo driver owns up (Kibosh reckons he wont). And as always there is a other side to the story. Plus Evo drivers are not Chavs.

Strangely I was on that stretch of road and witnessed the most dangerous overtaking I have seen in a long time last Sunday, a guy in a blue scooby 56 plate....

Got to be the best defense in the world for not being a Chav :-

Evo guy said:

With regard to naming me as 'Chav' this is just another unfair attack on Evo owners. I am in fact a 27year old father and Director of a car sales business which has been running for over 20 years. Not quite Chav material am I?

So I guess he built up the business from the age of 7? Or did he just inherit/ get given daddies business so having the money to buy every chavs dream car the Evo?

The first few guys on the EVO forum who posted seem a sensible bunch. Must really piss them off stuff like this.

Some are some aren't, same with any affordable car that packs that much punch. Know exactly where you're coming from though, such a shame that such a fine car has been tarred with that brush Though they're not exactly subtle (says he) which I guess is why they're so popular to the oiks, but they're still fantastically capable regardless, and I can't help but admit I'm rather fond of them Guess it was inevitable, all the best of the jap cars gets attention from the people you don't want them to, and being so affordable they easily fall into the wrong hands.
Guess it's just a case of a few bad eggs giving the good owners a bit of a bad image / reputation, lord knows as a Skyline owner I can sympathise.

Credit where it's due, the guy stood up and admitted he made a mistake. We all do it at some point.

There seems to be a lot of posturing and "I ain't no chav bruv" Chest beating going on on that site!

They need to be aware of how their actions affect others. That old boy could stop driving because of that experience. If the evo driver had misjudged his overtake there could be a +5 on the road death statistics. People never seem to consider this when they go out for a hoon.... They also don't like it when the facts come home to roost! Well done Kibosh for weakening that sense of chatroom invulnerability.

(Reminds me of an incident yesterday on my pedally cycle. I got cut up across a lane by a lad in a VW. Caught him at the traffic lights and gave him a bit of advice re. his driving. He replied "So what?" I countered that he could have killed me and ought to be more careful in future and got the reply "And what are you going to do about it?" The reply: "Well, I'm a Police Officer. And I've got your numberplate. When's good for you court appearance?"
