That guy lived near to my old house, looked a very tidy car, but i think this has been advertised for many months (going onto a year easily)
Good luck with it, if it goes through. But seriously make sure this is the one you want! it's a long way to travel to find out that it wont start when your picking it up and then you change your mind.

Are u serious that this car is offered for such a long time??
I had some calls to the owner, and he said to me that there no problems with the car. He has it for more than two years without any Problems!
And its not so far away. A Flight from Berlin Germany to East Midlands, costs me 40 Euros (30 GBP). I although have a return ticket...

I do not know the car, but can make soem general observations as it is of a similar age to mine, and an identical spec:
The light coloured trim to the top of the dashboard will reflect of the windscreen, which is somewhat irritating and can reduce visibility in some cases! (I note that generally, later cars, even with light interiors, have dark dash tops. I have investigated re-trimming mine, but the windscreen need to come out so it is a big job!
It has no air-con and as such has a single cooling fan. The air-con is a personal choice thing, I guess. Some say it is a must have. I just wind the window down myself, but it can get a bit hot inside sometimes. The bigger issue is that with a single fan, engine cooling is an issue in traffic. I uprated mine to 2 fans and installed a cooling chip from TCS too. Much better now.
As an early car, there is plenty of potential for the chassis to be in a poor state, so that needs careful inspection.
Ensure it has a sticker on the VIN plate stating that the "upright re-call" was carried out.
It would have had "clatter cams, probably, when new. The change to the quieter cams was, I think during the "P" plate year. Mine has these. The engine work refered to in the add may have been an "upgrade" to change to the later cam.
Clatter cams are noisier and arguably make the car less drivable in town. Purists could argue that with clatter cams and no power sapping air-con compressor, this car will be VERY rapid!
I think he mentions clutch upgrade in the advert. This is a must have as the bell housing would have been changed to take the later style clutch. The earlier one is no longer available.
In short, go in with your eyes open and, if the price is right, it could be a very nice car. Be prepared to do a bit of work ( I did) to protect the chassis. Frankly, you could buy a much newer car and have nothing but trouble!
I live near Coventry. If you need someone to take a look for you I will try and help out if I can (no warranty with "inspection"!)

Do you think its posible to go to an TVR service centre in coventry and let check the car? I`ll hope so.

Now that I've had a look I'll revise my opinion. It doesn't look too bad. MrVol, your probably already on the way as I write this, but just in case, as someone suggested, take it down to TVR power and let them check it before parting with your cash. Edited by jensena on Monday 26th March 19:00

I was there on thuesday. i didnt buy it.
The CAR was in a horobale condition. I am so angry. I lost over 1200 GBP for the trip. ( the most of the money i lost because of the fees for moneychanging)
The guy who wants to sell it, told me that is normale for TVR.. I wont hope that this is the truth. He told me i can`t compare it to german car quality.

The interior was so bad. the lether was so worn ( Not even the part he was showing on ebay)and bad. The lether on the steering wheel was very bad, so that i never belive the car had run only 36 k miles.
The Chassis had a lot of oxidation and the exhausts have often toutsched the gound and were dented.
The windscreen was glued with normal building centre silicon. The taillight covers were although badly fixd with windscreenglue. The gap dimensions on the backwindow were totaly different.
so now i am very confused about TVR. At pool madows busstation in coventry i met a guy who drives a Lotus elise R. His car was 1999 with 75 000 miles and the car was perfect. He told me that TVR is so bad and if i am intersted in britisch sport cars. i sould buy a Lotus. what do you mean is this true or is he lotus fanatic??
so now a request on you. Is there anybody who can send me some very detailed pics of his cerbera. I will have look to it, to decide if i was to picky.
especially from the chassis, because i want to know if the oxidation is realy such a big problem of TVR..
What sould I´ll do now...

Just a mad lotus fan... I've seen some of the worst panel gaps ever on a car on an elise before. I'd agree you need to be more realistic about a hand built british sportscar, but they really shouldnt be too bad. If you look through the pictures of various owners cars you'll get a feel for whats right and wrong in terms of condition. I'd say interior wear is an interesting one, aside from the drivers side bolster, ours isnt too bad considering its 70k miles old, as for the rear lights, it sounds like theres been a hash up of re-fitting the covers... the rear window thing and the front window seals sound beyond iffy.
Perhaps you've just looked at a lemon? If you'd have said when you were at Pool Meadows, I could have met you there and talked you through the car with ours - during term time I quite literally live opposite the bus station, the Cerb is no stranger to rumbling up outside.
I wouldnt give up hope just yet, but its a good thing to be very careful with things like the chassis, even ours is going to need work at some time soon! - though I prefer to see this as an opportunity to allow for some proper rust proofing and a chance to make sure it'll out last the rest of the car!! There are good cars out there still, you just have to be patient.

I'm guessing the lotus factory is a tad more professional then anything I ever saw at Blackpool.
