General clutch question - advice please

Morning all - just a quick question regarding clutches.

I am lookng at a 1997 Cerbera 4.2 that has covered some 38k miles and it appears from what the owner says that the clutch has not been changed.

Are the clutches still available for this year as a I seem to recall someone mentioning that clutches for the earlier cars are not available and some expensive bellhouse changes are required etc.

Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated please.

If it is the early housing then you need a new bellhousing and flywheel. New units will cost a lot, but if you go to a breakers I am sure you will get them alot cheaper.

If I were looking at a nice car this would be a deal breaker, but maybe a good point for negotiations

Speak to TVR POWER in Coventry,they were very helpful when i had clutch problems on my 1998 4.5

You do need a new flywheel but not a new bellhousing; As the allen head bolts are longer with the new clutch the heads fould very slightly on the inside of the bellhousing.

Its easy though to chamfer the heads a little, so they taper in towards the top, so they don't foul.

Cheaper and easier than trying to get a new bellhousing!
