no, you're not mad but you must do homework before buying . The car in question belongs-i'm sure- to Murph from here and Club Scuderia, is reasonably priced, well maintained and been cherished by Andy. BUT, don't expect Germanic build quality / day to day reliability and as the 355's been around a while don't expect interior to be state of art.
However, DO expect an engine note to die for- he has Tubi on- and be prepared for people to stop and stare at a truly fantastic looking design.

Hi There
Well I would say if you have the oppertunity of somewhere secure that is a beginning.
Going after your dream car well sometimes I think it is not always a good idea but My son has been dreaming of owning a Lamborghini for years (since about 10 yrs old) and has just got one (now 19 yrs old) and the best thing he has ever done but like everything I think you know when you get in and drive it and if you feel a passion for the car!!
Hope this helps?

Erik997 - if your dream is achieveable and it is not going to screw you over go for it

Slow your role lady... 19? Congratulations to him. I've got 6 months to pick up the pace.
Now, where's my shotgun and blueprints of the local Natwest?

Just wanted a sanity check from people in the know on my latest crazy idea...
Currently only have room for one car (parked on the street) and so when considering a car the sensible choice was the 997C2S. Top performance, built like a tank, everyday driveability and relatively cheap to run.
However....
I've been offered a secure underground car space close to my work which means I can start dreaming. Thought was to sell the C2S and firstly get an Audi for the daily grind (commute through London). Topping up a few grand this would leave a budget of maybe £45-£47k to spend on a weekend dream car to be kept safely tucked up during the week. Head always said Porsche but the heart has always said F355. Always been my dream car (came out when I was 18 and lusted after one ever since) - if I won the lottery I'd probably still buy a F355 before any other car.
Had a "dreamers" look at the classifieds and was pleasantly surprised at the prices - for example:
www.pistonheads.com/sales/142011.htm
(although Verdi seem to be selling the same car for another £4k...?? www.pistonheads.com/sales/146789.htm ... same car?)
So...
Am I mad?? Will something like the above take me to the cleaners (I'm used to Porsche reliability and prices..)?? Am I crazy swapping a 2 year old car for a commuter box and a 11yr old car?? Where do I start looking?? What happens if my teenage dream car is a disappointment....
Help..!!

I`v had a 355, and my mrs has a 997 C2S,the porker will be alot cheaper to run and slightly faster, but i would still go for the 355 and a smoker if it was my choice, especialy if i was single

Not that I doubt you or anything, but how does a 19 year old afford to insure, run, let alone purchase a Lamborghini? Fair play to him though.... at 19 I had a Fiesta!

So, Freaky Lady, your hubby Leslie has a Urraco 250 S and your son, 19, has a Lambo too? What does the boy drive and what is his insurance like?
Edited by JuniorD on Tuesday 27th March 12:54
Her son has his own Lambo - it's a Urraco for those that don't know him. He too is on this forum; Urraco 250 s
No Freaky Lady's partner doesn't have a Lambo, and yes Leslie paid for the car himself (and Leslie is her son by the way). Ever since I've known him (about 5 years now) his dream was only to ever own a Lambo, and every penny he has earnt has been put aside to achieve that dream. So for any of you doubters out there, if your dream is to drive something a bit special, you need to be a bit more focussed about how you achieve it, and don't knock those that have made a few sacrifices along the way to achieve theirs.

I get the story now, just confused from earlier posts & threads and agree much kudos to anyone who fulfills a dream so soon. From what I believe there was a 22 year old chap who knocked about Dublin in a 6.0 Diablo (orange of course) while he was at university so anything is possible.

How classy is that.. Most 19yr old are installing playstations in their Max Power Saxos and here's one with an all time classic Lamborghini..!!
Makes you wonder what he'll be driving at 30...
Post some pictures of the 19year olds Lambo and advice on an insurance company to approach?? I saved all my life and the best i could get at 25 was MK1 Elise?? My friend on the other hand (31years og age) has just traded in his Conti against the Black E Gear at Lamborghini Birmingham - I will post some pics over the weekend - Cant Wait!!

He he I'm also in the (minority) that aren't trying to see how many amps they can place in their car
Although Leslie, very well done
At the moment I had a look at a Clio 182 and cheapest insurance I could get was £4500 through a broker!
And that's in a safe location, parked on parents gated driveway....
Well done for working for your dream! (If that's not too patronising...)
Luke
Have mailed you Erik.
Car's not mine, but mine is for sale (and thanks to Tony for the kind description).
These are truly awesome cars, and if you have the opportunity to own one you should take it with both hands. Schoolboy dream stuff.
You should get onto Clubscuderia for advice (do a search initially as a lot of people are buying these at the moment!) and check out a few cars to understand what you might be getting into.
Buy a good car and you will not regret it.
