I need two new Conti Sport 2 295/30ZR18 N2 so I spent the afternoon shopping around with great results. First port of call was my local tyre dealer at £229.98 each all in (as they put it). Second was National at £212.00. Third was OPC at £287.75 each. Lastly I rang Kwik fit who after consulting his PC quoted me £245.00 each, what I said national down the road are £210.00 each oh well he said I can do them for £200.00 each then. £90 discount 20% nearly. Do you think this can be bettered?

I have no idea if Costco do tyres or fit them, but I was once told they have a fixed 11% margin on everything.

Mytyres.co.uk £194.50 plus fitting so it looks like you did well. Just make sure quack fit doesn't b*gger up your wheels!

I got mine from my local guy up here for under £180 fitted. I thought we got $hafted for everything up in Aberdeensville but it seems Tyres are an exception!

Try Micheldever Tyres just north of Winchester - they are known to be very cheap and look after your alloys as well

Costco definately do tyres and fit them. Michelins only. Best prices I have ever seen and recently had an offer with an extra 20% off. Well worth investigating.

Dealerships expect to make about 20 - 25% on tyres.

If you are in N. Wales / N West then I've used Demon Tweeks in Wrexham before. It's a bit of a boy racer haven but it has the cleanest garage/fitting centre you will see and they do tend to price beat the internet if you have a bit of a chat over the phone with them. They can even fill them with hydrogen or something daft if you feel the need.....

I'll need new tyres on my 996 shortly and was thinking of getting the Conti Sportcontact2. They were good and long lasting on my previous BMW compared to Pirelli's - Have they got a good reputation for 996's ?

Nitrogen - That's the one !! I knew it was something daft. I guess it must be impressive to discuss in the chav car-park when he's talking about the £20k he spent on his h-reg clio with da mahoosive exhaust and chrome spinners.......
