Feck, Ar*e, Distributor

Doing some preventative work on the wedge at the weekend. Replace distributor cap and rotor arm. Try to put the two spring steel distributor cap retainers on and one snaps in half. Looks like it had been bent around in the past and my interference in this department since I have owned the wedge has pushed it over the edge. Had to take distributor out to see what the hell was happening close up.

The broken retainer is held in place by a rivet. Can drill this out no probs. Where can I get a replacement clip from ? Local autofactors have proved negative so far. Will try an auto electricians in the next day or two. Any suggestions ?

Are the otter switch retaining clips the same? If so I have some, otter switch clips that is. No car at the mo to compare.

ISTR one or both clips on my dissie are held by split pins. Simple but effective

Stick a long tie wrap right over the top to hold it in place 'till you get a new clip?

Thanks to a certain Mr Danny Hoffman. The wedge lives again with a new clip on the distributor. Va Va voom !!! Have been making up for lost wedging time with the roof off all weekend. You certainly miss 'em when you can't use 'em.
