Any help appreciated with my Chimaera.

Background - left the lights on this morning at work so when returning to the car discovered
flat battery. Key fob would not open the doors or presumambly disable the alarm/immobiliser.
'Broke into' the car using a certain method which allowed me to open the doors knowing I had
Leven jump leads in the boot as I can now access the bonnet release.
F**K it - can't open the boot ! Call the RAC but within 5 minutes a break down truck in the car park,
puts a bit of power in the battery, I can get into the boot, jump leads on etc ....car starts.. drive off.

However, I notice that the red light on the dash is constantly flashing. When this has happened previously
the alarm goes off whilst driving to much embarrasment. Solution is to stop, switch off, get out, lock car,
open car and restart as per normal. Then I notice the car stereo display has changed from orange to a funny shade of green and it works without having to use the remote. It has one of those spring loaded dial-thingies that you turn clockwise or anti clockwise for volume, bass, treble etc. Never worked since I bought the car. Now works a treat !

Get home but can't lock the doors. I can disable the immobiliser using the contact key and re-start the car but the red light on the dash keeps flashing but I can't lock the doors using the fob. Is there any other way ?
Anyone got any ideas.
ps I have tried the spare fob but that makes no difference.

I had this when I ran out of battery in my old chim

Think the interface to the central locking gets confused

Cleared it by disconnecting the battery for a few mins

Another satisfied customer.
Tried and tested over the weekend. Complete success. Thanks for the tip.
Has also improved the speed at which the windows now close and the central
locking works on the first press of the blipper. Often had to wander round the
car to set the alamm and lock the doors. Almost like a re-boot of the system.

Tip No.2 (Two for the price of one on Mondays!)

If the lock ever gets intermittent but the car is alarming OK, this can be (was in my case) down to the relay interface.

Water had ingressed in through the windscreen bottom and corroded the innards of the unit. Found one on the web for the princely sum of £12.50 + P&P

Bit of a contortion to get the dash top off, but well worth it to say "I did it!!"
