They should have stuck to the 2000 project :
(From the "history" on the Roehr Page)
"The Rv500 was born.
A 500cc two-stroke, twin crank,
V-twin based on Yamaha YZ250 motocross engine parts,
housed in Roehrich's own custom made crankcase.
At 115hp and 315lbs. ,
the Rv500 offered a totally unique and thrilling riding experience."
Sounds more like it, thinks
Benni
By the way, maybe they are into future trouble about the name,
as the "Stoewer-Roehr" was a luxury car from germany in the 1910-30s,
and I heard of reviving the name for a luxury line of a german mass-car producer,
á la Lexus.

Probably makes more sense if you worship the "Star Spnagled Banner".
Head, hit, nail etc.,etc.....

Still, if I wanted a yank bike, it'd be a Buell for sure: they make more sense than this thing seems to.
Yup......Erik Buell's treatment of the HD V-twin is a much more unique direction, and they are pretty damn good as well.....allright the gearboxes aren't the best but that's about the only real gripe about a Buell.....they're an absolute hoot...

When I have to take another job in Central London again, I'll be definately looking at one of those new XB9 CityCross Buell's as a commuter weapon.

Oh dear... What a mess... Bless them though, they have tried to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse, IMHO they've landed a bit short of the target though...
Hardly a sow's ear into a silk purse.....
The problem is the blatent 999 etc rip-off looks. Much better if they had tried to do their own style.
Good use of the Porsche designed water coooled V-Rod lump though.....it's a very good, and very strong V-Twin with lots of power potential.......the bike just needs it's own unique style.

True, I'd have to agree... From the website it seems that Roehr will also offer upgrade kits to get the engine up to 180bhp, considering Buell's steadfast refusal to use the Revolution engine this might be as close as people can get to a high-performance American v-twin motorbike... Alternatively they could just go out and by a Ducati, an SP1, a TL, or a KTM and save a rather large amount of money in the process... But I guess the bike does some "homegrown world-beater" appeal. I'd be very curious to read a tester's opinion on it!

That sort of engine upgrade kit is available already off the shelf for V-Rod's. A big-bore 1550cc kit with titatium conrods and other bits will give in excess of 180hp on rubbish 91 grade US fuel.....so that in a strong-lightweight sports chassis with decent suspension......

(if this thing does indeed have a decent enough chassis.......
