Scots encouraging driving
Discussion
Strange but true; the Scots are encouraging driving: "European tourists are being encouraged to take driving holidays in the west of Scotland as part of a new £1m campaign." It's on the BBC news website here:-

I don't think speed cameras are being re-programmed so as not to spoil European tourists' driving experience.

A few years ago I met a fellow petrolhead, and he said he drove a basic Golf, however, he saved the difference between that and what he would really like, (he lived in the South East, so he said a good car was pointless), and every year went to Scotland for a week, hired a Ferrari and toured Western Scotland, joyous he said!

West of Scotland? Once you're away from the Glasgow area there won't be any cameras.
Getting the Euro tourists there might be a problem.
It's about 500 miles from Dover to Glasgow.
Leaving aside
1. some of the most congested roads in Europe in SE England
2. all the 6000 speed cameras
3. the millions of low quality drivers
4. the Cumbria speed trap folks on the *only* motorway into
Scotland the M6
5. the lousy lane discipline in the UK
6. UK mway speed limit one of the lowest in Europe, so it's
going to take a long time to get there anyway
it's quite a good idea.
And when they get there, they have the deep joy
of Scottish cooking and hospitality, the West Highland
midgie etc etc
Let's not forget that for a lot of them they can
get a lot better a lot cheaper in the Alps & Pyrenees anyway.
Sorry to wee wee on your idea, but I think a bit
of realism from the other side of the fence helps.
There is a little place 80 miles from Calais called Zeebrugge.
In Zeebrugge there is a ferry direct to Rosyth in Scotland - which is 40 miles from Glasgow and 10 from some great roads.
The europeans have been coming to Scotland in fast cars and on motorbikes for years - they already know the secret....
