Provided I find out how on earth you get a place, I'll be there. And assuming that filthy, battle-scarred Alfas are welcome...

If it's anything like the time I last went, you just rock up, pay the entry fee required to put your car on show, and then park with all the other Italian cars. If you are not in an Italian car, just rock up pay the entry fee, and park in a different part to all the Italian cars.

Call me a cynic, but I naively thought that turning up in an Italian car to an AutoItalia event might have garnered some sort of discount on the entry fee, but sadly I was mistaken and it left a bit of a sour feeling to the extent that I've never bothered to return.

I agree - the success of the event depends on people bothering to turn up in their cars, seems odd that you have to pay the same as everyone else - I recall that last May was a bit of a disaster with extremely rare cars ending up in the public car park due to lack of space - my enduring memory is the lingering smell of fried food that hung in the air over the woefully inadequate area given over to the lambo club for the two hours that I stuck the crowds. Think I'll opt for the Italian Car Day in Bristol the weekend before (?).

I'll actually be at Donington Park for the Historic Grand Prix Weekend.

See LCUK website for details.

I ask you - that Iain McFarlane turns up on PH and his first post is dissing dear old Brooklands ... which is almost certainly the correct thing to do sometimes! It's about time a fellow front-12 Lambo owner was on here other than myself and Boss Cerbera!!

btw, it's NOT Auto Italia's fault that the Brooklands people charge their usual entry fee for an Italian car at this event - certainly the AI folk have an ongoing battle with Brooklands to stage the event at all but, smell o' chips notwithstanding, the meet has had it's good and great points over many years... PLUS if you want to be in the main area with your Lamborghini, Ferrari or Whateverri - you need to aim to get there sooner than late morning if you can!

The Bristol show is (I believe) on public streets in Bristol centre. Nothing wrong with that of course; you can pick up bodywork damage anywhere these days, so why not do it at a specially convened event where the chances of your car getting damaged because it's a vandal magnet will be a little more restricted when there are many other irresistible 'scratch 'n' knacker' opportunities available to the passing hordes of chavs...

Welcome to PH Iain - are Delyth and the bairns OK??

(PS, you still owe me a drive in your Islero...)

I will take you out in her this summer (the car that is) - new exhausts should add to the experience hopefully - naturally, unlike the short trip in your Jarama, I will avoid policemen of the sleeping variety - the fact that all four wheels of the Jarama left the ground will stick with me as one of my fave Lambo moments....
