I am presuming it is the fuze as my indicators work fine. I have a 92 reg car so guess it's a case of try them all as I seem to remember from the last time I delved into the realm of the fuse box there is no sense to their layout!

I really have no idea on this but fuses often serve a few electrical gizmos so checking whether the others on the same fuse might tell you whether it's the fuse or not. In my manual it says my car(1997) has a fuse that serves the lights, hazards and radio and is fuse 11.

Mmm ok well maybe it's not the fuse then? anyone else shed any light on this?

Check the switch first, then its wiring or the diode I guess if your fuses are all OK.

Thing is on a 92 it's likely that the fusebox is different so maybe not the same setup but hopefully somebody will be along to confirm that.

I guess it's a case of following the wiring to and from the switch, it could be a plug on the back of the switch has dropped off, you may be able to get to it through the radio cage by removing the radio. if you can then you can test whether the feed and the switch is working or not. I'm guessing that the wiring is quite simple, from fusebox to switch, to relay, to repeaters.

Had sopmething similar recently but the hazards worked but not the indicators. Turned out to be a 20p diode which was behind the fuse board (usually behind the dash).
There is an auxiliary relay board behind the dash (or maybe not) which you may want to look at too.
Adrian Venn is the expert on pre cat wiring now so maybe worth calling him.

thanks chaps will check the fuses first! Hope it's that simple as my dash is very fragile and on the way out so really don't want to start messing around behind that. Fitting replacement pre cat dash is apparently a very time consuming affair!

Get someone to check they're working from outside the car, but make sure they're not called Paddy.

"Paddy, are my hazards working?"
"Ay, yes they are... no they're not... yes they are... no they're not... yes they are... no they're not..." hehe

(Sorry for not being very helpful. Have you checked the switch?)

On the back of the switch there are two circuits, two permanent lives and there corresponding switched outputs.
Check both lives are indeed that, and check the two switched outputs become live when the button is pressed.
The switch basically puts a live feed to the indicator ciruit and another to a relay which in turn switches a feed to both indicator inputs.
Of course , with our beloved Tiv's there may be some changes, but I believe this is how the basic circuit should work.

reviving this post... I have established my hazards work when the key is in but don't when there is no key. Is this usual?

Laz,I had exactly the same on my car when I bought it. The hazards only work with the ignion on.

As above the hazards need a permanent supply on the indicator circuit , then another feed switched to the hazard relay ,which "switches" both indicators on ,hence hazards work.

SO...... the switched live on the hazard button is not getting through to the indicator circuit, hence they only work when the normal ignition feed is on
I reckon the supply from the hazard button to the indicators is on the wrong terminal.

Sounds like your diode could be barfed or disconnected.... Cant really remember the circuit ~ I'll have a look later if nobody else does.
