Hi All,

Sorely tempted to go for some kind of exhaust mod for my Chimaera. Whats the consensus? (Cherry bomb conversion, sleeved...or just leave alone!)

I like the sound of the V8 cars, but heard a few cars with the mods and it does get the old adrenaline flowing.

A non TVR mate of mine reckons that modifying is no different to the Saxo dustbin "pimp my ride" brigade though.

Interested to know what you think.

Cheers,

Russ

Depends on the size of the motor a sleeve job is a sleeve job.

The crap ECU the RV8's have been that if a tad overfuelled as std when this is done you have get nice fat back fires on the over run!

Thanks for the ideas!

Just checked out the video of that Griff...Ohhh yyeahhh! Quite a different sound, but raucous! Like a great big hooligan! The only comment is taht at idle it sounds a bit agricultural. But then I am more interested in the sound later on.

Had the Chimaera in for an intermediate service with Dave Batty today. Got a cab home, but left my door keys at Dave's. rolleyes

Being the top bloke that he is, he kindly ran the keys back over to me, funnily enough in a Chimaera that he had done a sleeving job on. It sounded pretty damn awesome as he pulled away. My mind is made up, no one has said that its Barry Boy Nova, so job done.

By the way, I would just like to say what a great job DB does.

I agree with your mate and I own a TVR. I even posted to that effect a long while ago

Yeah, its an interesting point about the bolt on super dustbin possee. I must confess to being a bit indecisive.

Thing is, the TVR is already a great sports car, so maybe there is an element of credibility meaning you can get away with it!?

Now, if it gives you an extra 3bhp then I can say it enhances performance. idea

Maybe its a case of "do what makes you grin the most". I certainly was grinning as Dave wellied it up the road.

It make the car feel 50bhp faster (not in terms of speed) just noise and grin factor.

My current one is way pas a sleeved Rv8 and just more or the same but with the laud knob set to 11!

Russ,
Your non-TVR mate's not too far from the truth, but why not?

As you well know Mr Jellison, my car has had some minor mods, but I would like to think they are tasteful (apart from the roundalls on the doors).... none of this chaving up with loud exhausts, bling rear lights and loud music add ons.

That said, many of the young lads who bling up their cars nowadays think their mods are tasteful too. Maybe I sould be come oldchav instead of daftlad

Daftlad,

I think I may have some nylon leopard skin seat covers and a sheepskin steering wheel glove in the garage from my old Mk3 Cortina, would you like me to bring them to Cadwell?

John,
I have already have some paddy dog-dirt covers on the seats (they match the fur around the screen) so I will decline the leopard covers. But I would be intersted the wheel cover.
