The factoy wing has changed many times, mostly in recent years. Which are your favorites?

Mine choices may be surprising:

1st - S4
2nd - S4s
3rd - None

1. SE wing. The SE is SO sharp, I love everything about it.

2. S4 wing without a doubt

3. The current wing (is there a name for it?)

LotusV8,

There is a picture on your site labeled "1993 Lotus Esprit SE Turbo" and the car in it looks to have a wing I've never seen before. Do you have details and/or more pics?

Luke.

The wing fitted to the USA '93 to '93-1/2. Looks like the SE wing, but slightly taller and more aggressive. If anyone would like to part with theirs...

Cheers,
Sanj

Its the X180R wing like the one you see on the cars with the numbers on the side. Aerodynamically, is the perfect ratios of height and width for maximum downforce.

Hey Sanj,

If you were to morph an SE wing with a 98MY wing the middle step would look almost exacly like the 93MY wing. Before you decide to put one on your car, make sure you try sitting in a car that already has one (although you probably have already). Those who are used to the SE style wing might be surprised. Next to the S4s/Sport 300 wing, no other Esprit wing style will block out rear visibility as much as the 93MY.

Cheers,

Karl-Franz :-)

Its a High-wing. I dont know the technical name for it. Came out Mid 93 I believe. Pretty rare, I have never seen on in person.

Mine with 1. being the fave, and 4. being the least fave.

1. No wing at all

2. Turbo SE (glass back) wing Or the special Ed. wing which is a taller/sharper version in old USA spec cars.

3. S4 wing

4.MY93 UK spec Hi-wing (only for track cars not road - I have one in my living room )

All others look affected IMHO, and spoil the elegance of the shape trying to mimic 'in your face' sportiness in a vain attempt to attract attention and refresh an old body.

Probably the 350 sport, but for a more fitted look I love my wing which is a sport 300 and suits the car Goes with the rear glass panel well.

I like the slight scoop it has. The wing is made out of carbon fibre so its very light and flipping strong.
The downside is that you cant see much out the back. Unless its a cop, who cares

Hi,

To quote the late great actor Raoul Julian, who, playing the part of the Ferrari driver in the GumBall Rally as he rips the rearview mirror from the car and casually tosses it aside; " The First Rule of Italian Driving is: What is behind me, is of no importance!"

Kato, from Lotus esprit world has just removed his High Wing and gone wingless. This is the man to speak to.

I like the S4s wing also, but not just because it looks the most aggressive. The person in back of you cannot see your eyes in the rear view mirror unless you want them to.

I have a 91MY Esprit and for me my favorite wing is the SE wing. But after 3 years I have the car, I thought about modify the wing. In my opinion the SE wing is to low. So I made it 10 cm higher. The result of my idea and work you can see on my new Lotus Esprit site www.lotus-esprit-se.de
Look at "tuning - body" or "events - Sinsheim".

Cheers
