Picked my car up from TVR Power today after it had its 1,000 service after an engine rebuild and drove it back too Essex with full power on tap, extacy! I was grinning like a Cheshire cat the whole way. By the time I got back to Chelmsford the gear knob was almost too hot to touch. It often gets warm but I don't remember it getting THAT hot before. Does anyone know if this is normal?

gets warm, as in nice to hold, not too hot to handle!

Several posts on this, almost always with Finbarr Saunders-esque double entendres about "hot knobs" rolleyes!

There was a mod to assist with cooling. Maybe it was de-modded during the rebuild ?

This happens to my car. Mainly in summer, and yes, it does get too hot to touch for more than a couple of seconds.
On the plus side, it teaches you to keep your gear change quick and precise and not to lazily rest your hand on the knob!

Sounds like the heatsink has been removed?
