‘The 9th Annual Gumball 3000 Rally’
London to Asia…and back in 8 Days!
Sunday 29th April - Saturday 5th May, 2007
3000 miles, 120 cars, 16 Countries, 8 days, 2 Continents, 1
Amazing Adventure!
After much speculation of how Gumball could possibly top this years ‘around the
world’ (London to LA) extravaganza that took place back in May, Gumball 3000
founder Maximillion Cooper has today announced the route of the 9th annual event
that proves to be an even more ambitious and challenging one than the last. Having
secretly worked behind the scenes on making it even more ‘James Bond’, we can
now reveal that the 2-007 Gumball Rally will travel from London to Asia and back in
just 8 days with a combination of partying, driving, and ‘flying’ the 3000 mile
adventure!
‘Picture 120 supercars, a crowd of over a quarter of a million people lining the
streets.’ Setting the benchmark as being the most rock ‘n’ roll car rally ever, the start
in Central London on Sunday 29th April will be the place to be: expect “Pure hell
fanfare” (Bam Margera) as the flag drops on Pall Mall, as 120 of the most amazing
cars, rockstars, supermodels, billionaires and eccentrics will set off for the ride of their
lives. Waterloo Place will be filled with crowds, and expect the likes of Tony Hawk on
the vert ramp, along with DJ Yoda on the decks, and with the event being televised
live everyone will get to see the spectacle as the cars head off to their first checkpoint
in Amsterdam.
Upon reaching Amsterdam, to celebrate the Queens Birthday (crowds expected of
over 1 million), cars will drive thru’ the night to reach a secret airport in Germany
where all 120 cars will be airlifted by Gumballs own Antonov cargo planes to Asia.
“This is just NUTS!” (Johnny Knoxville) Gumballers will then make their way 3000
miles to the finish line back in London, navigating the route with CoPilot satellite
navigation via F1 circuits, Casino’s, crossing cold war borders, and taking in the most
glamorous ‘Bond style’ parties possible in Istanbul, Athens, Dubrovnik,
Bratislava, and Berlin, as Gumball fever takes over Europe!
‘Visualise all 120 supercars including Ferrari Enzo’s, Lamborghini’s and an amazing
seven Bugatti Veryons driving off the Gumball Antonov cargo planes in Asia, now
that doesn’t happen everyday!’ The finish party is set to be Gumball’s biggest party
ever, with a public music concert and ‘Awards ceremony’ on Trafalgar Square on
Saturday 5th May. For the first time fans will get the chance to cheer the winners of
the coveted ‘Spirit of the Gumball Trophy’; and with bands flying in from around the
world to perform live, this is one Gumball party NOT to be missed! ‘With Vogue
magazine entering teams of supermodels, think Paris Hilton racing Jodie Kidd, and
with ‘Bond girls’ everywhere, who is your money on to cross the finish line in time to
watch the Gumball Music Concert on Trafalgar Square! Be there to find out…’
Editor notes: The first Gumball 3000 took place in April 1999, when British creator
Maximillion Cooper invited 50 of his friends to take part in a 3000 mile party around
Europe to bring together the music, film, fashion and sport industries. Eight years
later, Gumball 3000 has become a lifestyle brand and consistently hits the headlines
as ‘Cool Britannia’s’ most unique addition to pop culture, described by Vanity Fair
Magazine as “the most rock ‘n’ roll car rally ever staged” and famed for its exploits
and celebrity participation. The event annually attracts stars including Oscar-winning
star of the Pianist Adrien Brody, Jackass’ Johnny Knoxville, Hugh Hefner,
supermodels Jodie Kidd and Caprice, Kill Bills Daryl Hannah, action sports legend
Tony Hawk, and rock stars including Snoop Dogg, Blink 182, The Fun Lovin’

Criminals, The Happy Mondays, The Darkness, Placebo, Jamiroquai and even
Ms Minogue.
Thursday 30th November sees the ‘Global Film Premiere’ of ‘3000 Miles’ –
directed by Maximillion Cooper following the adventures and ‘jackass’ antics of Bam
Margera (Viva La Bam), Ryan Dunn, Tony Hawk, Mike Vallely and ‘Rooftop’
Escamilla on the 2006 event from London to Los Angeles. The film is distributed
theatrically in the UK in January and will be available on DVD worldwide next spring.
And finally, with 2008 being Gumballs ‘10th Anniversary’ the event is already
rumoured to be pushing the boundaries of entertainment even further with an
incredible 3000 mile route of flying and driving from London to Moscow and
onwards to finish in Sydney in 8 just days – it’s going to be HUGE!

I tried to get sponsorship a few years ago for the same thing. Took it so far but basically ran out of time.
The best response came from the smaller companies in the city, try some of the smaller trading companies and some of the spread betting companies. Also, if you're in London have a look at the companies that advertise on the side of Taxi's. Its a good sign that they are actively marketing their brand so they're the best ones to go for.
You're probably doing all of that anyway, Just in case though...
Rich...
If you're serious about it I'd ditch the idea of doing it this year and focus on 2008. Sponsorship isn't about asking someone else to pay for you to have a good time. You need time to come up with tailored ideas which have true value for your targeted sponsor - £28k for a few stickers on one of the 'cheaper' cars driven by one of the non-celebrities doesn't really have a huge appeal when you weigh up what else can be achieved with £28k of marketing budget.
Add value, think of it as a partnership rather than a sponsorship and realise that marketing budgets (especially on the scale you're looking for) are set 12-18 months in advance.

Either your post is a wind up or you are just naive.
You do not need £28,000.00. That is only the entrance fee for you and one passenger. You need another £5,000.00 for the support crew's entrance fees.
The event starts on 28 April 2007.
Do you have a support crew? Do you really think that you can get a Sagaris from London to Istanbul without one and without any parts?
Do you have enough money to cover the fuel, parts, speeding fines, bail bonds, lawyers?

I have faith in my Sag - she's a Beast!at 28K you will feel massively short changed, I did 2003 and 2004 and I couldn't workout where the 6K entry was spent then....whilst its a great blast its also full of self obsessed plonkas.
save your dough or you'll learn from bitter experience it is massively overhyped, kind of like fake t*ts.
