Its got a huge, flat tarmaced carpark. It serves great beer, It has a lovely real fire, and some comfy seats. Its in exactly the right area for most people. The Landlord is a huge bear of a man and appears to driver a Jenson Interceptor!

But......................

Its like stepping back in time! hehe The inside is cozy, but victorian. The youngest customer (and there were quite a few) in the bar was over 70yo! and its not near a chippy (although with notice I'm sure the big man would whip something up) Its an old fashioned gem of a place - the sort of place where the locals leave their dogs sitting unleashed in the entrance porch whilst they go for a beer. The sort of place that does lunch time carverys the old fashioned way (you takes yer ticket and gets yer plate filled!) Its not stunningly clean, and the musak is in that 70s stylee when the original band is replaced by a sound-a-like group to save on the royalties. It won't appeal to everyone.

So does anyone want to give it a try?

It be in a place where time stands till, especially if you're an insect (there's a bit of a clue in that) .
I will reveal all when the date for the next meeting is agreed....... unless someone guesses it first

Your looking good for your age Andyhehe

Sounds an intresting sort of place. I know a couple of pubs that time forgot but not near Matlock. As long as ferrets arent allowed in the pub I would happy to give it a try.

Must be a broken clock with an insect connection? I'm intrigued so I'd give it a go.

It's the "Event Horizon" in BEESton.

Bit short on atmosphere though...

Tis in a place that some would call fiery. The way of the iron horse passes nearby. You have all been within one mile of it.

So it's near a train line at Matlock. Come on chaps, where's the railway inn? We can cross that one of our list. Guess it's Starkholmes villas and I know the location if you get stuck better spill the beans chap and quick!

I think we need a fixed venue though and maybe excursions every now and again to other pubs but on different nights ie not tuesdays. All this uncertainty is reducing numbers on the main night.

patience dear boy, patience.

OK. Its called The Amber Hotel. Its at a place called Furnace. Its less than half a mile from the Peacock, and less than a mile from the Anchor. If you were going from the Anchor to the Peacock, you would go through the lights and you would have the Peacock on your left, keep going straight on (do not turn left to Matlock) and after a few more twists and turns you find the land that time forgot.... hehe

I'm passing there tomorrow and I can check with the Landlord if they'll welcome us or feed us to the Veloceraptors living at the bottom of the car park if you like. Shall we say the 10th or the 17th? What say yee all?
Or should we just go somewhere else? hehe

I've passed that place a million times, it always looks to me like it used to be a pub, but had long since closed down and was now a private residence.

See you there folks.
