Spark Plug Types

Anyone an opinion on Which spark plugs to use in an AJP 8

I'm currently using NGK BKR5EKU.

Anyone using any other makes or comments from the collective wisdom?

There is an iridium plug available for the Cerb' I use them in my 300zx, and when I have a decent engine then I think I'll be trying them in the Cerb'

I use Denso in the Nissan, but I see that NGK have started to sell Iridium plugs too.

Thumbs up for the Iridium plugs here.

A friends V6 Vectra was missfiring so changed the Iridium plugs out for some stnadards. The missfire melted them in a few miles where as the Iridiums were as new.

Just make sure you use the correct heat range!!!

Am I right in thinking '5' is the heat range I'm using.

Can anyone verify I'm using the right plugs as I can find no information in the manuals or handbook about what spark plug type to use iridium or otherwise

NGK: BKR5EKU

NGK Iridium: BKR5EIX-11 (5464)

Champion: RC9BMC

To decypher the code on your NGK plugs:

BK = 14mm thread, 16mm plug tool

R = Resistor type

5 = Heat rating (2 = hot, 12 = cold)

E = 19mm thread reach

P.S. where do you live in kent cos at some point I'd rather like to take a look at the butterflies on the 4.5 without having to take mine apart.

Do you mean the link between the throttles on the 4.2?

If so, have already got it sorted, have an adjudting rod with rod ends rather than balljoints at either end.

Nope, I mean the rod that the butterfies actually sit on. Instead of filing down the existing rod, and hoping that the screw holds, switching to a new rod design which is flat to the butterflies.

and was hoping it was the same as the 4.5 rod

The 4.2 throttle spindle is actually quite a bit smaller/neater than the 4.5 one to begin with and iirc is round, not square.
