...have just run a story about a fella who's been caught travelling at 110mph in a 60 limit. I know that this is excessive speed, but is it really news worthy? Do you really think that they'd run the story if a car driver was caught doing similar- no, they're just jumping on the bandwagon saying things like, "his bike was capable of 180mph"- so f#cking what- I'm capable of licking a wall socket, doesn't mean I'm gonna do it though.

This comes on the same day that on the national news they're saying that the government are suggesting that all bikes are electronically limited to the relevant speed limit- what about cars and old (pre-ECU) vehicles? I know they're trialling this in cars but can you honestly see every car being converted? Ignorant MP's (ironically the one on the radio was from Birmingham- wonder if she even knew that her fine city was once the motorcyle manufacturing capital of the world and employed tens of thousands of people- I somehow doubt it...) sticking their beaks into things that they know sod all about.

Sorry for the rant, but things like this REALLY annoy me. I love all forms of motorcycling with a passion, and it's about time that bikes got some good publicity- the govenments other hot topics appear to be road conjestion and fuel efficiency after all......

And breath!!!

You miss the point: this government is AGAINST personal transport in all forms. It is irrelevant how efficient, clean, non-congesting it may be or any other positive attributes it may have. No doubt when they've managed to get rid of all motorised transport except buses and trains, they'll start taxing shoe leather in case we try to avoid public transport by walking.

They've tried persuading us out of our cars/ off our bikes, now they'll just persecute us instead.

I saw that, the newsworthy part of it that you don't mention was that he was spotted by a helicopter and tried to hide under trees but was still seen by infrared cameras, it wasn't so much a speeding issue as a stupidity item.

They just tagged the usual crap onto it to fill some time. Slow day etc....
