You mechanical gurus ought to think about hiring a hangar for a weekend, getting some Chim Forum regulars along with their cars and doing a refurb course with them. I know I'd pay good money for it!

Seriously - we have some very enthusiastic and knowledgable blokes on here and also some enthusiastic mechanical remedials (like me). We could make a weekend of it - messing about with cars in the daytime, a few beverages in the evening, with the usual bollock-talking throughout the day...

Anyone interested? If there's enough interest, I'd be more than happy to help organise...

What about somwhere central like Silverstone. There's always something going on there. Perhaps not hire a hanger but a few like minded souls with a couple of wet ones can pass on lots of experience.

I think that would be a fab idea. Theres so many enthusiastic people on here who love their cars i'm sure they wouldn't mind cascading some of their knowledge down to others who are willing/want to learn.

I'd definately attend and I don't even own a TVR yet !! (roll on Saturday.......)

I'm attanding one of these on Saturday at Gaydon for the P5 Owners Club. Apparently you can hire one of their workshops with lift etc.

I can let you know how good the facilities are (or not) on Sunday.

It's quite central too and near the Aston Factory!

That sounds ideal if it is up to scratch. I would be interested in going but it would need to be after May to give me time to get my engine reassembled, de-bugged and a few miles on it.

As I also mentioned on the other thread I think it's a great idea and would be up for it....it would be great to pick the brains/exchange tips of the more mechanically minded of you and possibly do those little jobs that that you otherwise wouldn't dare attempt on your own (not neccessarily talking engine rebuilds here but jobs/solving niggles that would improve the general wellbeing/running of the car) topped off by an evening of beers and banter beer

I think it is a good idea - I was thinking about something similar at a TVR Club level...but a PH level has a wider audience potential. I would go along to such a day/weekend.

What do you want to know? While not being the greatest of the great out there I have stripped a couple of TVR's to their bare bones and got them going again, and whatever I know is freely availble, tell me where and when and I'll do my best to answer the question correctly!

I'd come to Blighty for that - but only after the engine has made it across the channel and back on its own (i.e. without a Chimaera attached to it) and found its rightful place in the car again, which won't be before the end of May...

't Will be a bit of a special engine, though... hehe

I could bring my parts along and someone could reassemble it for me!!!!!
That way everyone could see where all the parts go....hehe

Progress reports and more pictures will be posted on my original thread.

i think thats a great idea! i would be up for that. i dont mind having a go at things but would be a lot more confident if i have seen someone do it before.
little niggly things like: loose drivers mirror, slow/stop windscreen wipers and the all important...... Dash removal!!

paid in beer....i would show people how to remove the dash if i was to be paid in beer.....thats a 5 minute job!!!!

It is a good idea but the logistics of getting something like that organised would be very hard.

We had a conference room and a 4 post lift in the spacious workshop - about 20 of us in total and only covered basics as this was a first for the RP5C. I'm pretty handy with the spanners but still managed to learn a few bits.

I would suggest not too many peeps though as all crowding around it gets difficult for everyone to see whats going on and it needs some definite structure based upon specific subjects. EG brakes or steering. Maybe run 2 classes at the same time. One for novices and another for more advanced?
