Orange Mosler on M3 this morning?
Discussion
Fabulous orange Mosler heading northbound on the M3 this morning, he pulled off at M25 junction. What a fabulous sight for sore eyes in amongst the drab silver grey BMW laden conformity of the morning rush hour, quite cheered me up, last one I saw was spinning across the gravel trap at Le Mans just before the Dunlop bridge!
Hi there,
The Orange Mosler is a stunning car. John was kind enough to let me have a really good look round the car recently at Silverstone. He told me the car was running over 600bhp and that he was confident it would hit 0-60 in under 3 seconds.
Regards
Tim

How much are they?
They start at about £110K although IIRC the MT900SC (supercharged as per the orange one) is £130K - £150K depending on spec.
I drove the car at the GT day and two things surprised me immediately: the driving position is absolutely spot on (better than a Diablo/Murcielago) although my winklepickers were too long
so I drove it barefoot. The ride quality and its ability to deal with English road surfaces was the other surprise. I'd always looked at the Mosler as being too close to a race car to be a nice road car - I was wrong. It's a very nice road car and worthy of consideration for those in the market for a Lambo / Ferrari. On a track day I doubt anything road registered could live with one once you'd got the hang of driving it (Enzo maybe?). Moslers MY900s have serious racing pedigree now (I do love cars that perform so well governing bodies feel compelled to move the goalposts to help the competitors!). The Mosler's aero is the real deal - the faster you go, the greater the downforce.
It's the first car I've driven with proper wings. I felt their effect when descending from "many leptons" as the steering lightened up as the downforce washed off leaving me with mechanical tyre grip (of which there's plenty!). It did cross my mind that had I kept my foot in for the bend it would have gone round it - John reckoned it would have done and the car's lead engineer said the same thing. If I had, that would be the fastest I'd ever been round a corner.

Thanks for the info, who would service it? Are there any reliability issues?
Mosler's base is in Norfolk and I guess there'll be some kind of arrangement for "return to base". The engine is a Chevrolet and much of the car is best-of-breed motorsport stuff. In principle any competent race car preparer could look after it and in terms of the engine, there are GM dealers all of the world. i very much doubt reliability would ever be an issue - the electronics are not overly complex, the engineering is proven stuff. The Mosler's on-track record for reliability speaks for itself too.

Thanks BossCerbera, anyone here got their name down??
Willo900 has already got one, the purple one:
He's toured Europe in it and thinks nothing of hopping in it to drive through London (he's bringing it on the Furball 5000 Viking Tour later this year). I thought he was maybe a bit of a headbanger but now I've driven one I think he might be a lot less bonkers after all. Moslers always pull a big crowd wherever they go too.
I think they are only available LHD which might bother some people.
Yep. J H 500 on his way to Cadwell this morning for three days with EVO magazine.
I hope it rains on the git.
More on the Mosler's comings and goings are here www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=374024&f=23&h=0
As stated cars are can be looked after on a "return to factory" basis for upgrades and personal settings, but there is a dealer network coming. Dream Machines in Heathfield are amongst the 1st to be appointed.

Only just seen this - you might still be right about the "Headbanger" bit though Boss! Gassing Station | Supercar General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
