Guys I need some advice, does any one have a Impreza WRX Sports Wagon with the Pro Drive Performance Pack? Is it any good? Does it make a big difference?

Thanks for any advice

PPP makes a hell of a difference, it's basically like having the power of an STi but with the decent 5 speed box not the STi's 6 speed.

If you can get an SL with PPP then you've got a damn good car - leather, heated seats, sunroof and loads of power with a flatter torque curve than a standard WRX - go for it.

Big different over standard - Standard 225bhp, with PPP 280bhp. Go figure.

Special offer on PPP (£995) if you are member of SIDC.

That's great stuff, thanks. I was actually spending some time searching the net and found the SIDC site. I'm having some fun with my insurance firm at the moment and waiting for a claim to be finalised so right now I'm just waiting for the cash with which to buy the car.

I noticed on the PPP pdf that they mention using 18" wheels rather than the standard ones, and there's some rather nice anthracite coloured ones. Does any one have the 18" fitted, and am I going to break my spine every time I go over a speed bump if I get them fitted?

Sorry about all the questions but car hunting is much more fun if you can get advice from people who actually know something about it!!

I've got a bugeye WRX sportwagon...215bhp standard. I have just fitted a TSL performance green panel filter and a group N backbox. I now have the ODBII cable (from the USA), mapping software and various maps. I will be doing my own mapping with all cats in place initially and I have a map that will deliver 265bhp - 280bhp and flat torque curve as is.

Tactrix ODBII cable + read/write connectors $99 + postage and a further £23.50 (£10 VAT + parcelforce fee) once it arrives in the UK and has cleared customs. Mapping software and maps....FREE, and it will be fun modding the maps

Once that's done i will fit the rest of the Group N TSL performance high flow cat 'PULSE' exhaust system that will deliver another 20 - 30bhp on top of that, maybe a bit more. Then my stock bugeye will be a PPP STi eater hehe

Will then get the prodrive springs which i hear are very progresive and designed specifically for UK roads. That should sort out the handling coupled with the front and rear uprated drop links that i have recently fitted and the brakes are uprated too. Needs to stop well too with all those horses trying to get out!!

That'll do for me and it will be a reasonably quick WRX.

Now there's a man with with too much time on his hands

Good for you, careful not to cook the engine with the re-maps though, I've heard bad things about people destroying thier engines.

I totally agree the 5 door is a total Q car

No worries about the re-maps...they're only stage one and i am reliably informed the 2.0L WRX engines apparently can take upto 400bhp but won't be reliable, however mine will be somewhere between 270 - 300 bhp max....and thats loads for this car...it's done 72K miles so i have to be gentle with it. Cheers thumbup
