When I got my '03 R1 it had only one alarm fob, so the dealer agreed to get me another. Sadly, it seems that it's not possible to obtain one without the original documentation so the dealer kindly agreed to replace the alarm with a Cat 1 Acumen. So, I took it in on Wednesday and when his fitter took the old alarm off he found that when it was fitted someone cut off an essential plug - and as all the wires are the same colour he gave up and decided to refit the old alarm. Sadly though, the neutral light no longer works so it won't start. They have a new relay coming in next week with may fix the problem but if it doesn't, it's got to go to the Yamaha dealers - who can't even look at it until Tuesday after next That means it's going to be another fortnight before I see it again

Happily though, the dealer has MOTd an '02 GSX-R1000 out of the showroom for me to tool around on for a week, which is jolly kind of him

It's a bit of a pain not to see my bike for a few weeks, but I can't fault the after sales support of the dealer - he's only a small independant but he's very helpful. When the TL1000R I bought from him turned to have a buckled rim, he just replaced it with no fuss, and even gave me a very good trade in on the same bike when, after 3 months, I decided I wanted the R1 instead.

I was gonna say mate, the dealership you are going to seem to really care about your continued business! There can be very few places that would go to these lengths to keep you happy.

You seem pretty reasonable yourself though right enough, I'd be gutted if I had to be without my bike for 3 days!

Gutted for ya mate.

Well it's a PITA but he's doing all he can to resolve it - it wouldn't be fair to be unreasonable when he's clearly trying his best. I always say that we should not be judged by the mistakes we make but by how we deal with them - I think that applies here, though the dealer hasn't made a mistake as such, but he's dealing with the situation well. I've bought two bikes from him now so i'm likely to buy more, but I think more than that he's just a decent sort of chap really.

The fact he actually had to MOT the Gixxer so I could borrow it didn't stop him, and I didn't even ask for it, I just mentioned I needed mine back in time for an Easter Egg run i'm doing on Sunday and he said he'd sort me out either way. I've currently got a Diversion 600 courtesy bike which is hilariously crap, but I give that back tomorrow when I collect the Gixxer.

It's human nature to complain, but I just wanted to put up a GOOD story about a dealer for once

FYI the chap in question is www.royvincentmotorcycles.co.uk in Warminster, Wiltshire. My R1 is still on his website actually.

All the wires are the same colour because it is a cat 1alarm , if they dug deeper , the should be able to find where its been tapped into the loom , fazer was easy , had a dedicated plug for the alarm
