Hello all,

Considering adding a small diesel company car to the fleet for the wife to drive (eventually, when she takes her test) and for me to take to meetings, shopping etc., basically to generally not have to drive the HSV everywhere as it's our only car at the moment. Fuel economy around Milton Keynes is diabolical, which doesn't bother me that much, but it's a pain in the arse and not good for the car to have to take it absolutely everywhere.

Anyway, with that thought, insurance springs to mind. Would it be possible to insure the HSV on a limited mileage / classic car policy, and then use my NCB on the company car? And if yes, can anyone recommend a company to do this with?

Thanks in advance as always.

Norwich Union offer a pay-as-you-drive package, they install a tracking device and charge you for useage, however they will not accept modified cars. Lots of companies will offer low mileage packages from 500 - 1,500 miles, some call it classic car insurance.

Im not sure if you would make any significant saving going down that route, but I'd try www.footmanjames.co.uk/.
I've used them for limited mileage policies & classic's before & currently have two cars insured via them (NCB applicable to both). They do offer a good service, we've made two claims with them & it was totally paper free & painless.
Good luck.

Sorry, I forgot to add that the point of the exercise was to have the HSV on a policy that didn't require NCB, which I believe is the case with classic insurance.

Pay as you drive is a non-starter for me, too Big Brother for my liking, otherwise good suggestion.

I have a hot rod which I insure through a specilist car insurer. I put it to them about the `ro` and if a club approaches them with a fair estimate of the number of people interested then they will set up a club policy.
I think we`re a club!!!
If theres enough interest I`ll have another chat.
At the Mo paying 200 pa for a 5.7l 1948 rod with 6000 anual miles and an agreed value of 18000
Quoted me 550 for the `ro` but at an individual rate.
