I have the exhaust etc down on the Chimaera at the moment and have been cleaning the spine of the chassis, the question is do you waxoyl the spine above the exhaust box?
It is mint and doesn't see much action but whilst I have access to it it would be nice to do it but the obvious problem is it is right above the exhaust in a heat soak area which makes me think bad idea?

Anyone thought about or tried this?

If the chassis is OK, I'd leave it. Especially given that Waxoyl is rather inflammable...

I'd clean off any loose powdercoating and paint any bare bits with a suitable rust treatment. You could give it a thin coating of waxoil if you want, but not too much otherwise it'll occasionally drip onto the exhaust with the heat, and the smell will remind you why you shouldn't have done it! hehe

Does waxoil run with heat? The makers claim that it doesn't.

Well while I had the exhaust down on mine I sprayed wax-oil there. Its got to give it some extra protection, which I think is better. As someone else said, don't put too much on though!

Really? Because it most certainly does. It's paraffin wax!
