Hello everyone!

Just taken the plunge and bought a Chim! Picking it up next week and I can't wait!!

Am new to TVR ownership so does anyone have any hot tips? I've bought a 97 P Chim 400 with 46k on the clock, full history and 4 former keepers. Green with Cream, the classic colour combo! Bought it for £9,995 - which I thought was reasonable?

wavey congratulations and welcome!
Find something to occupy your mind over the next week, it will seem like the longest 7 days of your life, but the wait will be worth it

Enjoy yor car to the full, drive it more than you polish it, be careful with the loud pedal, and post some pictures as soon as you get it.

Search this forum and you will see much more sensible/mechanical advice than i am able to offer, but i really did benefit from investing in professional training/instruction from Ride Drive and Ultimate Car Control (and i passed my test in 1979!!)

Good luck

Welcome to PHs Matt.....nice choice of colour too yes Is it Cooper Green AKA British Racing Green? I bought a 97 400 Chim in January with 29,000 on the clock in Cooper Green with Magnolia half hide...great combination, especially after I have had chance to spruce up the leather!

You will find yourself not sleeping for the next week, especiually the night before you pick her up. Enjoy and remember easy on the throttle 'til you get used to it.

Thanks guys!

Really excited now as I've just finished clearing out the garage ready for it when it arrives!

Does anyone know of a decent specialist in the Herfordshire area?

Use it regularly ... it's a TVR and will undoubtedly suffer the odd niggle now and again, but they are usually just that, nothing really serious. It is a law of averages ... if you only ever use the car for special occasions then if it breaks down through some daft fuse or something your occasion is wrecked ... if you use the car a lot you get used to it's behaviour patterns and can usually predict something starting to play up before it gets too bad. The odds of it letting you down on a "special" drive are reduced

Oh, never put the back section up or down when it is freezing cold. If you need to, get a hairdryer on it first to soften the plastic or it may split.

Always use V.Power or another higher Octane equivalent. The cars do seem to like it.

At it's next service get all the fluids changed, just so that you know they have been done.

There is probably loads more, i'll have a think. Mainly, just enjoy the car

Thanks for the advice.

I will mainly be using it at weekends and some evenings so its not my everyday car. I understand that its best to use them regularly so thats exactly what I'll do.

I am useless when it comes to mechanics, so am going to have to learn quickly!!

Apart from the fluids, is there anything else I should get changed as soon as I get the car?

Am going on a road trip when I get the car to some of Wales' best roads. Will the car be ok left out overnight or should I buy a cover for those types of situations?

Should be ok. The worst that will happen is it pours with rain and you find you have a leak somewhere ... get home, dry the carpets, no real harm done.
