Racing games and Racing wheel

I have never owned both a racing simulator (Forza, GT etc) and a steering wheel and peddles.

Would the PH collective recommend getting hold of a wheel? If yes, why? How much more fun does this bring to playing these style games?

I am really looking forward to the new edition of Forza later this year and if it will provided me with so much more fun I will also invest in a wheel. Pointers appreciated
