Hi,

Look's like I'm going to be available on the LeMans weekend for the first weekend in years, so thinking about going down.

Can anyone tell me what ticket availability is like? And is there much of a 'community' there? - would it be worth going down on my own?

Chris.

Big community, no probs, always somebody to hang out with. Ticket availabiltiy is thin except for General Entrance. Take a small tent or bivvie and just kip circuit-side if you fail to get a camping pass. However, there are some always available to sell/swap on this forum and on
www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0
so keep your eyes open, especially nearer the time when people begin to drop out at the last minute.

Aaaaah, all this talk of Le Mans. I've just got to go!!!

Went in 2000 and it was the best event of any kind I'd ever been too. Promised I'd go every year, although as it turned out not the most successful promise ever made.

Spent the last few years watching/listening to the race at home, but not this year.

Rang round a few old mates and got me a Campsite/Travel/Ticket sorted out.

The only trouble is that the rest of the group have got grandstand tickets whilst I've only got gneral admision.

If I remember correctly in 2000 I only went to the grandstand for the start anyway, so am I missing much anyway?

oh by the way, Hello all

I always use the grandstands. There are 280K people there and it takes a bit of dedication to get a decent view of the start/finish if you don't have one. Not only that, but if you are with a group, it gives you a good meeting point. If it's hot, you have shade and if it's peeing down you have cover.
Which grandstand have your mates chosen ? TL still have stands available, so give em a buzz and join your mates.

if you don't manage to get hold of a grandstand ticket drop me a mail nearer the time and you can borrow mine for a bit if you want, i'm certainly not going to be using it all the time

I am actually hoping for a bit of rain this year during the race, a sort of flash flood then hot and sunny again would be great - hopefully catch a few teams out and they'll have to drift it a bit round some of the bends cool

..perhaps i'm wishing for too much?

I was wondering about this, I'm not really bothere about having a grandstand for the whole race, neither are my mates. But we were wondering, if we can get hold of 2, could we share them and do a couple of hours each? Would give us a bit of a change thats all.

Yeah, you can definitely share them. Thats what most people do. Only thing is you'll have to fight for who gets them for the race build up/start and also the finish. The finish is when they really are valuable. You will be massively tired and hot by that point and it's awesoem to be able to sit in the shade of the grandstand listening to radio le mans and watching the race unfold on the big screens and on the track in front of you. In saying that I'm always one of the people packed in at the front of the standing area poised to invade the track!!

Many thanks for the offer Minimax, much appreciated.

I'm not sure which grandstand the others are in, most are away for easter and so I'll wait till next week before hasseling them.

IIRC I watched the finish from a hilltop last time, didn't make it to the grandstand/pits till the invasion was well underway.
