I would like to nominate myself for this award.

I needed a new battery so I did my research on here and in the Bible and proceeded to remove the battery yesterday morning. It came out quite easily and I was pleased.

I then went off to my local garage complete with old battry and box in search of a replacement and closed the car door. Yes and I had the roof on - as I returned with resplendent new battery eager to get it installed it suddenly dawned on me what I had done.

The moral of this story - always change the battery with the roof off.

As a post script I must say that with a new battery the car seems to go much better - smoother - and the electric windows are much quicker. I've read threads on here about speed of windows - perhaps window speed should be used as a measure of the condition of your battery.

Anyway all looking good for the annual June pilgrimage.

Why, any thief would work that out, and I'd rather they did this than cut the rear screen open.

The car is still alarmed and immobilised.

This sort of advice has been deleted numerous times before, it is the "alternate entry method", which is a closely guarded secret. Mods will be along in a moment I'm sure!

PS did I tell you about the time I locked my keys in the boot? Did you know, if you do this you can ... maybe not, ask another owner!

Sorry for giving the game away on this - but to be honest it took me precisely 2 minutes to work out how to get in this way.

I think that if any Chimaera owner is relying on the integral strength of the sort-top for security then they really should be brought into the real world.

IMHO it is prudent to any electrical work with roof off (even just stays loosened) or windows down... Better to be prepared & then sods law is on your side
