These secondary facelifts are always interesting to look at but the ultimate decision on whether it appeals is down to the buyer and the buyer's future buyer. The economics of "restoration" (or whatever is represented by that term in this case) look pretty alarming. If I was starting bidding on an M reg 400 at that price I would be seriously interested in more fundamental things that new headlights and a respray (condition of the chassis and other potential major cost items). If these items have already been attended to as part of the restoration then I would focus on that in the ebay details.

Did those three put an offer in with the estate agent?

Agreed, for many (me inluded) any body mods that could not be easily reversed would make the car less desirable regardles of wether it looked good or not.

Agree with groomvroom to a degree. I'm not necessarily one for messing with the original look but I have to say that looks bloody sexy yes

Looks nice, but I'm another to favour the classic look as it was intended... sorry

Even with the mods, and as said previously you'd have to find someone who really likes them, the starting bid is very high for a 94... IMHO

not a one-off either I know of at least one other with T350 lights. Although I think these lights really do suit the chim...like the wheels too...

Owner Here

Like most Chimaera owner I love the look of the original. However I was also interested to see what I could do to bring the shape up to date.

Some of you may say that is changing perfection but I believe rightly or wrongly that the shape could be brought up to date hence the car you can see.

One thing is for sure I would not have embarked on this unless the car had good basic structure to work from and that was confirmed by two separate TVR specialists.

I haven’t just spent my money on the body work, like most it has been spent on sorting electrics, mechanic, and so on in fact no expense has been spared in keeping the car spot less and if it wasn’t for business commitment she would never be sold (Hence the remark on Ebay before he changes his my mind????).

Who ever does go to sportmotive to buy the car will get a Fab car I don’t want to get involved in the selling because I will never let the car go.

Angus! Cant believe you're selling it!
I had a good look at this car at Le Mans last year and it really does look fabulous. Im very much in the no mods camp but in this case the updates have been done to a high standard and work together very well. IMHO its resulted in a distinctive car without being too over the top.

Thanks to all for the very positive feedback and emails regarding the car.

However I have come to the conclusion that I am going to struggle to part with it. I have spent way to much time and money in it completion.

In response to questions emailed
1 Wheel can be purchased through Revolution and fit 4 stud pattern
2 T350 front-end modifications are done by sportmotive in the same way you would do a speed six mod.
3 The Dash is Maple Stain Grey and looks the business

Any more questions would be happy to help and the car will be at Le-mans this year?

"Bring back the Chim- and design it like this"

As the heading states if the Chimaera was brought back I think something along these lines would bring it bang up todate, and I am for that, but it does not necessarily mean that I would want to modify my Chim.
I am happy with the way it looks todaythumbup

although I'd generally be against the modding and intend to keep mine as is. This one does look very well and tastefully done. I like it, preferable to the other headlight conversions around in my opinion.

The wheels are by Revolution and are called the millenium they are 17inch all round and the off sets are front 7.5 on and back 8.0

I am not sure the current price but they do look good on the car and I have had no problems with them on the road car handles well.

If you need to get hold of a contact to supply wheels send me an email

Happy to supply any more information

That's more likely to be the wheel widths (in inches) rather than offsets (usually given in mm)

I like the front end, but the rear and the rear wings look completely wrong now. They're much too fat and bloaty with that sharp front end.

I'd prefer a minor facelift to the front, based wholly on the lights - some kind of clear projector lights of the same shape as original would be better IMO.

Hi Angus
absolutely fantastic is all I can say about your conversion. Love it so much that I want to do the same to my 96 Chim500. PM you with some questions. I hope you don't mind.
