MARCH 07 Competition Winners
Discussion
Finally!
Ok, first I want to mention some that come very close to winning (in no particular order):
V6GTO
A great image, beautifully processed, let down for me by the reflections in the car, they've stayed just too perfect compared to the styling of the rest of the image.
Karlosfandango
Very similar to the above image and another one let down by just one minor niggle ... the bird!
cy88
Fantastic collage, not really let down by anything, just beaten by some very special images.
cirks
Brilliant! Fits the brief perfectly, only let down by not being terribly sharp.
Mr Noble
Beautiful image, would make a great image in a product brochure (in fact it reminds me of the recent one for the new Cayenne).
omohat
Another stunning image, again only really lost because of the quality of the other entrants.
blondemoment
This came so close to making the final 3, a wonderfully study of a true classic.
Ok, now to my top 3:
3rd
doodah
Loved last months entry by doodah and this is equally as good. The sense of movement, the toning and the composition all just add up to a great image.
2nd

An early entry into the month long thread and kept me waiting until late yesterday for the entry proper. I loved this as soon as I saw it and it seemed to inspire a number of similar entries. An image I think many people would be happy to see hung on their wall. Brilliant.

Another image that I loved as soon as I saw it. It's not the sort of image that you would normally expect to see given such heavy contrast processing but for me it works really well. Congratulations John, a worthy winner!
Thank you to everyone who entered, you've made it very difficult for me to judge but it's been great fun! Congratulations again to all those that made the final cut.

Hugh, quick question. I am thinking of getting this done also, can you recommend anywhere.
John.
P.s. well done on your entry also.

I'm not sure, there are a number of places online that do it, I have been recommended one by a friend but the email is on my computer at uni. I'll get back to you as soon as I'm back at uni (should be by the end of the week). Alternatively I think Martin (V6GTO) has had some done so it might be worth dropping him a line.
Well done on your entry.

Does no one know the technique for taking that pic??
maybe long time exposure and zoom out whilst taking it??? or the exige is stationary and the photographer is mounted on the car and pulls away whilst taking it?
Zooming out would make the car smaller, so I doubt it's that.
It doesn't look quite right for the car moving and the camera on a mount, I suspect it may be a photoshop jobby, but I'm not sure.

Congrats to all, fantastic pics.
What I'd like to know though is what technique Doodah used to get the speeding Exige pic? How do you do that?
What I'd like to know though is what technique Doodah used to get the speeding Exige pic? How do you do that?
There are three basic methods of achieving this effect which is known as 'zoom burst'
1. Changing the focal length of a lens during a shot (usually zooming in slightly).
2. Software manipulation post shot.
3. An on camera filter - apparently cokin do one but I have not seen it myself.
Congratulations to all by the way :-)
