Went over to Millbrook today to test drive the Gallardo, the CCBs are amazing, 0-170ish and back down to a stop within the 1 mile test track made the brakes on my Murci feel like $hite!! First time I have driven a Gallardo and I was surprisingly impressed, alot more user friendly for everyday use than my car.

I was there too - they make a great noise don't they? Can't see the point of a Tubi exhaust, or is it just that the 06 model cars have this much noise?

Looking for a yellow 05 or 06 Gallardo now, prefer manual but need to sell the 360....

Glad you all had a good day. I couldn't make it as I was up at Elvington seeing that Simon and Andy didn't misbehave.

Jonny. Told you the Gallardo would win you over. Good brakes are worth 50bhp.

Mandeep. True but the Murci is sooooo cool. One of each?

I don't think the Lambo's clock is any more inaccurate than most (non-German) cars. At normal speeds it's spot on.

I was done for 103mph on the M6Toll last year (6 points, £300 fine) and I'd been cruising just over the ton at the time.

I'd say you can trust the speedo up to semi-legal speeds (officer). Anything higher and... well, you're screwed anyway!

I've only had a brief drive in an '06, but having spent a good few miles behind the wheel of an '04 coupe its surprising how much better the later model felt in only a short drive:

Shorter (ie sensible) gearing, and a nicer gearchange.
Much more fluid and feelsome steering; the '04 feels aloof by comparison.
Better ride quality - soaks up imperfections and allows you to get on with just driving.
Much better sound. The valve which opens on mid throttle opening is properly loud, and just makes you grin. Cant see Tubi getting business for this one if there is a 'fuse 22' equivalent for the late Gallardo ;-)

Still; having had the unadulterated joy of driving Jonny's '6 for a few miles today, the Gallardo seems like a Ford Focus by comparison evil

Mandeep, I'll make sure we catch up to finish thing's off when I get back from NY dude - got some great stuff with the 6 today!

I was also at Millbrook on Saturday. I dove both a coupe and a spyder, and I think I prefered the coupe. I only drove e-gear and I absolutely loved it. I must admit that I was amazed by how good the gallardo was.

I currently drive an Aston V8 Vantage, but the gallado was so much more fun to drive in my opinion. I am now thinking very carefully about the lambo!

The one thing that gives me doubts about the Gallardo is the Murcielago! I went to Goodwood yesterday and saw a yellow LP640. I spend a long time just standing there looking at that amazing car! Is the Murcielago more fun to drive? Is it very noticably quicker on the road? Is it a lot harder to drive?

Any thought from anyone with experience of both cars would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.
