hi there, this is all new to me so just want a bit of advice.im a bit unsure to weather the supercharger is working or not.
i bought the car damaged, there was no damage to the engine though.just panel damage.
ive never driven a cooper s before,so im not sure wheather im expecting too much from the car is there any way of finding out if its working or not.

also can you adjust the gear linkidge as it seems quite tight and cant get 6th gear always,
thanks

Does the car whine when you boot it?
How many miles has it done? as it could need a service an a change of supercharger belt
Tough to get in to gear could be clutch or it could be gear box?

My loss of power problem turned out to be the throttle bypass valve (still yet to be replaced as the one that arrived last week was faulty - grrr!). It's a noticable power loss if you're used to driving the car, although I understand you don't have the advantage of that.

Why don't you test drive an 03 MCS from a dealership to compare and contrast the power output? When your supercharger is working, you won't be able to get the grin off your face!

cheers for that guys.it makes like a whistling noise when you put you boot it,is that the supercharger working,i just want to be sure im getting the best out of my car.

the car has only done 23k,i realy like it,its in electric blue with chilli pack and 17" wheels.picture will follow asap.

also is your clutch biting point at the very bottom nearly,i think i may need to bleed it some more, ive had the fluid out to replace the clutch slave so do you think if i bleed it more it will help with the gears and the biting point, thanks

also is the super charger belt inside the supercharger or is it the main belt that runs round the starter etc?,thanks again

The supercharger should whine as you put your foot down. If it dosent could be a streched belt this happens with time an age, an tunned MCS can strech shortened drive belt in 10,000miles to longer than a standard one.

The clutch, some can be low, its a hydraulic clutch so not sure how adjustable it is tbh

The supercharger belt is the same as the auxilary drive belt than runs the alternator

Another note is if your blower is broken as in not turning then the car will not run as roots blowers can't pass enough air through to run N/A.

You could always pop down to a tuner or connect a low cost boost gauge just to insure your getting full boost.

Worth noting the normal failure is the bypass valve, but when I say normal I mean the normal thing for loss of boost
