Insurance costs for a Murcialago
Discussion
My missus wanted to move house and I wasn't too bothered. As such, I struck and deal and said we'll move if she finds a house with a garage big enough for the scissor doors of a Lambo - which she did! Result!!! Anyway, next month we should be in our new abode so I can then start shopping around. However, I haven't got a clue how much insurance is going to come in at. I'm reckoning on spending (circa) £150k and and will do about 5000 miles per year. What is the ballpark cost of insurance, anyone know?

Depends on:
Age
Location
Past car history (it will be a lot cheaper if you have a history of not crashing sportscars)
points
Even at a worst case it will be the least of your problems

You are not wrong.
Since being seduced by the devils go-kart i've got divorced, grown my hair long, started downloading MP3's. thought Miami Vice was a good film, chase women 10 years my junior and thought about opening a nightclub.
When my LP arrives i firmly expect to go to jail.

Well:
Age: 43 years young
Location: North Hampshire, decent (leafy) area
Past car history: Haven't had a crash in 25 years. Been driving a TVR for three years.
points: None (at the moment)
I take the point about it being the least of my problems, but I wasn't thinking of it as a problem but more as a likely (ongoing) budget.

Rock on! I fully intend to avoid marriage so I can power straight to the post-marriage rebellion phase... The benefit of doing this is that I will have more money with which to enjoy it

I'm going to guess £2,200
I'm sure you will have already done a search which shows this, but really Chubb & ZPC are the only people to insure with

It cost me that to insure a Clio, at 19. C'est la vie.
Good going Steve on the Lambo!

Some insurance companies look at your previous car history, ie powerful/expensive cars etc - so you haven't got a chance
Seriously insurance tends to go down the 2nd year you've owned the car.

Surely that's less space than any conventionally opening car ?
I'd be surprised if any normal garage couldn't cater for the vertical height of scissor doors either ?
Not exactly a tall order (pardon the pun) !

At the moment we've got a double length garage but it's quite narrow. It just about fits my wife's MINI and my Tivver. However, it would not fit a Murcialago. You're right, I could probably open the doors, but the thing is too wide to fit in the garage. The clever bit is me getting wifie to find a house with a doublewidth garage - thereby "doing the deal" (New house for her means Lambo for me).
That's how marriages work - give and take, and all that. nopantshans said:

Dude wanna go out pick up chicks ?
Do some doughnuts in a car park ?
I've had several quotes from different companies including A plan all just under 3k, as i'm looking at getting a murci towards the end of the summer. I'm 26 but have had quite a few fast cars and havn't ever crashed a car. no points either on my license.
Oh and i live in a safe area and have cameras and electric gates and garages etc not that it seems to make much difference.
