Fitting a sub in the helmet holder

Has anyone done this? I do recall seeing pics of someone who had but the search facility isnt working. Does anyone have a sub in the boot or in the passenger footwell?

Ive put a 10" sub in the helmet holder. I used 15mm mdf and made the suround in two halves and made it a very tight fit then covered it in fake carbon fibre to match my dash.
I cant say it sounds brilliant, the exhaust is loud (sports exhaust and decat) and this interferes with the base sound.

Thanks for the info - search engine is up and running again so i have all the info needed. Think ill go with twin subs in the boot - sounds the easiest and cheapest option.

I also want to do this but one thing doesnt appear on the other threas, thats the lining and port-hole. Normally sub enclosures have a port hole type thing, do you need to put one in here to get a decent sound? Should I be covering the inside of the box in that dynamat type stuff?

I have the subs in the boot, a pair of 10"s.
There is no port hole and are made from mdf.
I bought them from a car show ready made up, Just fitted a pair of In Phase Audio subs.

Leicester Car Radio did this job for me some 9 year ago - well done and sounded superb (prefer the exhaust myself)

I'm not a massive bass junkie but I do value a good SQ+ system for sound quality. Went for Alpine fronts (keeping the OEM pioneer rears for rear fill) and an eclipse 8" in the helmet holder. Works a treat, but then (not to belittle anyone else in this thread) I do have a hell of a lot of experience with sound systems with anything from pure SPL to SQ+ systems.

I did the same as jbvipercerb. Made it myself. Managed to get the correct volume needed for the sub to work correctly.I can also remove it should I need to.

Door speakers have been changed to Focal components I bought off ebay from Australia, for £100 brand new....normally £270 over here. Genesis profile 4 amp in boot. Sounds great.

Covered the front panel with same colour 'leather..ish' material as the car interior. Well pleased.
