Despite lurking for the last 6 months this is my first post so go easy on me fellas.
My 2002 996tt is up for its 48000 service and I intend to have it pre-checked by JZ Machtech before it goes to the OPC - essentially so that I don't get the usual "you need to change the discs and pads" routine.
Can anyone advise me on 'best' OPC in or near Essex - Bow? Colchester?
I previously took my C4 to AFN in Chiswick but it's 50 miles and I hate the idea of giving uncle Ken anything in congestion charges
Thanks

I have heard good things about Colchester on here and am booked in there for a 111-point inspection on Thurs. So would only really be able to comment after that.
Someone was commenting on Bow being good too but prices seem much more expensive for anything that might need doing that Colchester. Might be a London thing.

Surely a 2002 car should have had its 4 year/48k service last year ?
Colchester OPC are great. The service advisors, Mike and Andy are good guys, very knowledgable and helpful.
they do not try to rip you off and help out whenever possible, my out of warranty rms issue was a good example. as the car had been serviced there from new Porsche paid 75% of the labour cost, and Colchester gave me a discount on their remaining labour charges.
In addition, they do not try to bump up service work for the hell of it. When the rms was being done i instructed them to change the clutch. upon inspection they declined to do so on the basis that there was nothing wrong with the existing unit and in their words "you would be wasting your money sir"
as for the old "your disks and pads need doing sir" yes they give you advisorys on this, but their assessment of pad disk life is acceptable. When I mentioned I would get the brakes done by my local indie they said "good idea. its an easy job and will cost you far less"
an all round excellent team there.

Lol, exactly what I tried to do, apart from them offering me £25k for my well specced '02 C4, they wanted £60k for an '02 TT , not to mention the shear lack of knowledge on his sales line, lack of call backs and lack of any idea on how to source anything other than forecourt fodder...

As I said my car is going into Colchester Service on Thurs.
I have just noticed on their site that they have a black GT3 which I think I will take a test drive of whilst there. I guess after that I can make an informed opinion of the sales dept there first hand.

but does look lovely. take plenty of tissues cos you will dribble - a lot!guyvert1 said:
If thats the one with the colour coded wheels, then yes, very nice mint model, if it wasn't for lack of 4 seats I'd of been over that, Atlas grey is gorgeous, only available from 2003> though

no this is a different one. i went to have a look at the black one. it was a SOR car so they wouldnt let me drive it there and then. very tidy though........
same situ as me. those pesky kids have a lot to answer for! in my youth i would have been estactic if my dad had allowed me to travel in the boot of his car if it was a porsche. its the nanny state you know. kids of today tsk
Same story. The service guys are excellent, the sales guys are not.
I rang them recently cos I was considering a change, asked about chopping my immaculate 997S in for one of the 996tt's they had, what sort of deal could they do? They took all my details "We'll ring you right back sir". Nothing.

All I can say is both service and sales are 100% at Colchester OPC.
In service I dealt with Mike. Very nice chap. Very knowledgable. Cannot recommend them enough.
The technician who dealt with my car was Gavin. Been at Colchester Porsche for 11 years so knows a thing or two about them. Very nice chap. Let me go around the car with him whilst doing the inspection. Shame he is leaving in 2 weeks, but he is only going across the road to Ferrari.
I then did what I know I shouldn't have done and took the GT3 out. Wow! What a car. But the chap I dealt with was Dan. Again very nice. Not pushy at all. Seems a bit of a car nut (which believe it or not some car sales men aren't), and used to work for BMW across the road. So we had a long discussion about GT3 vs CSL. Well, you have to, don't you. On the test drive he was telling me to drop it down a gear and use all the revs. I told him thank you very much and that was it. No, lets talk about finance, lets see what we could offer for you car.
After todays experience I am going to continue to make the trip to Colchester for all my OPC needs in future.
