For the last few months I have been harbouring a desire for a TT. Now the affliction has got so bad I have put my car up for sale and the search begins.

I have a few questions for the pork massive. One relates to the tt, the other to the sale of my c2.

i love the c2 for its linear power delivery, nimbleness and the communication through the steering and brake pedal. I also love the sound of the PSE when it is running at full chat.

In comparison will the tt feel a lot heavier and dare i say it slightly more numb? Yes I have driven tt's but only on test drives, so going in a straight line was fun but can they still give that detailed communication the C2 can?

as for the c2 my ad can be found Here can you think of anything else i should include in the ad, or is it too wordy? the point I was trying to get across is that i have fully traced the cars history and the new owner can buy the car with confidence that they have a genuine unmolested car that has lived locally all its life and always fettled by the local OPC apart from replacing consumables.

also, have i pitched the price right? too high, too low?

any advice you can offer would be gratefully received

Depends how quick you want to sell, personally I think you're pricing to high, take a look on a/trader for your yr etc, you'll find alot of cheaper ones with better spec/lower miles.. I sold mine to a dealer for less than yours , was better spec and '02..

However, based on the time/hassle of selling private I thought it was the best option, esp if you want your TT now

yes I take your point. I have had one reasonable trade in offer sight unseen but it is still way lower than a private sale price

I would tend to agree. You might be pricing it a slight bit too high. It is the first year of the facelift, does have over 50k miles on it but is the right colour (IMHO) and a very nice spec (IMHO ).

As for the TT it will not feel as agile as the C2 and it may feel heavier but this really depends on how well you know your C2 or rather how hard you drive it.

I know there is a lot of banter on here about the TT but at the end of the day it is still a Porsche and still gives you more feedback than most things out there. I believe the added power counters the additional weight. The suspension is sufficiently stiff to stop it feeling like a barge. I think only during very quick direction changes would the car feel considerably heavier. And possibly under braking. Other than that, there is still plenty of feel through the wheel and the brake pedal.

I guess it is a very different car, possibly aimed at a slightly different audience.

The C2 is the consumate all rounder. It does everything well. If you want to go quicker though, then you have to start making a choice. More GT car, in which case you go for the TT or more race car, in which case you go for the GT3 (or GT2 of course).

It may be worth speaking to Joel&co. @ RSJ, I seem to remember them liking seal/black porcas, they pay/collect aswell ..

Its. def. worth doing the legwork with most of the indies, you never know who's looking for what at the time....

Have to agree with guy about the price although you dont find many face-lift 996's under £31k - I am still on the look out for one and your advert is perfectectly worded IMO, it answers all the questions that i have been asking sellers on my long search for the perfect example, how many owners,Warranty etc, etc. Pictures also help and the leather looks in allot better condition than other 2003 cars that i have looked at.

Like Guy,I also use Autotrader/Pistonheads Classifieds/OPC nework as a guide to what cars tend to be selling for at the moment and funnily enough i also took a C4s & TT out over the weekend from my local Glasgow OPC - The dealer when he drove made it feel more special than i found it to be honest but the performance figures dont lie and the price at the moment does seem very tempting(Privately that is)

Your comments on the C2 have made me even more curious about the "Better drivers car"(salesmans opionion, not mine)as the dealer did not have any for me to have a look at.

Edit - Used 997 C2's are currently hovering around the £50k mark and could be an option.

Darren,

I do like your advert, and I know your car is a good one - and while a good colour combo, i dont think it'll sell quite as fast as a black/black at that price.

If I was in the position to, i'd snap it up off you, as I really did want a facelift, and its a fantastic spec.

Good luck with the sale, and the TT hunt!

Yes I have noticed that too. But if I went for the 997 i would still have that itch that needed scratching. i recon the turbo will do it for me. its just on days like today (sorry if is not sunny and bone dry with you) the C2 is such a perfect car to drive.

Think you're mad chum, you've got a great car there. There's nothing to spend out on it in the forseeable future.

Just had a trawl of autotrader, reckon the price is pretty spot on for a private sale too.

i went from a "52" plate c2 into a "03" tt and have never regretted it once. The c2 always felt a bit too lively for me at the front (maybe i just don't get the "feel" as well as others) and never that well tied down. The tt feels a lot more planted and therefore gives me more confidence in it. I missed the turbo kick over the linear delivery of the n/a engine as nice as the sound of the c2 was, but maybe that was coming from a subaru background. All imho of course!

To be honest though, if you are looking for ultimate feel and agility you are looking at the wrong Porsche. You need a Boxster or better still a Cayman.

I had a Boxster for three years/75000 miles. it was near perfect in the twisties!

im not looking for the ultimate feel etc - my driving abilities are so crap i suspect i have only experienced about 15% of the C2's true capabilities. its just that i wanted to be sure that the tt wouldnt be completely dull in the feel dept which by all accounts it isnt.
