on a 98 Chimaera. I'm told it's no longer manufactured, unless anyone knows otherwise. If not is there anywhere I could source one from.

Bob, what's burnt out on it?
Is it the connector?
If so just wire direct to the circuit board.
There's not much inside to burn out to be honest, a couple Op amps a PIC micro a voltage regulator and a couple of capacitors.
If the track has burnt away you need to find out why it burnt out and then replace the track with wire. Has your fan motor seized?
Can you post some piccys.
Paul.

Yes, overheated terminal, probably been a little loose. The fan is running freely. I'll open the unit and see what it's like inside. Thanks for the help.

This happened on mine last year.
Basically the connector is rated at about 10 amps but the heater draws more than this.
I thought about buying an identical replacement from RS components and fitting to the circuit board. Then thought it would be cheaper and more reliable to fit large spade connectors instead. So I cut the plug off the board and soldered wires to the remains of the connector pins. Then fitted male spade connectors to the other ends of the wires. I cut the car loom connector off and fitted female spades.
Never had any trouble since and the fans run faster.
Just remember to ident all the wires (both connectors) before attacking with cutters.
Take care when opening up the control box as the 5 volt regulator is bolted to the case and the small nut and bolt needs removing first. And don't loose the insulator pad that fits between the regulator and the case or the little plastic washer that insulates the thread. If you don't refit this the regulator will short out on the case.
Sounds difficult but won't take long.
Cheers
Paul.
