Does any one know if there is a Maplin or inequivalent part no.?

My speedo seems to have stopped working, It went a bit erratic, with the needle bouncing all over the place while I was stationary, I cleaned the sensor replaced it and now it doesn't work at all

Thanks Ireland, I'll check that in a mo.
I just read this on the inequivalent part no's thread

"Crank sensor sp 6 and AJP V8.
Ford number 6859701, Ford Escort 1.8 and some Fords."

Is this correct?

I've seen that, but feel there must be a cheaper alternative.
Its only a magnetic switch after all. Isn't it???
