Someone tell me why I should stay!

I know what the replies are already !! About this car..... and I did walk into it eyes wide open, and didn't
mind the 1.7k at the first service just to get a "few things" sorted, but now only 2.5k miles into ownership...I can't hack the windows not going back up, the doors not openening, then the window going back up when it feels like it, then not being able to open the windows....its all window, doors and boots!
I don't mind spending the money getting it fixed (Im not a spanners man)...but have a feeling I will be chasing my tail.
Someone remind me why we put up with this!

Go outside and take 5 mins to look at all the other cars going up and down your street. Feel like waving at any, or craning your neck to get a better look?

Now pour yourself a glass of red wine, slowly drink whilst taking a look at the cerb in the spring evening sunshine, and you'll immediately remember why you do it...

Because there's nothing else like a Cerbera. For better or for worse, they are simply gorgeous! Grab the keys and go out for a spin in the sunshine this evening and I am sure you you'll be reminded

I think really in order to own a Cerb you need to be handy with spanners.Or if not learn to.It helps in keeping a lot of costs down.I try to do as much as i can.Saving the service and tappet adjustment for an indie.

Don't, just sell it.

Life with a Cerbera seems to consist of nearly as many 'downs' as 'ups'. If it's reliability you want I would suggest a Porsche. But if you can put up with the idicyncracies and down right bad manners of a Cerb' then there's NOTHING that gets close for visual impact, fluidity of design and interior originality, short of a £300,000 supercar. I honestly believe that the Cerb' is the car I've always wanted and now that TVR is no more I cannot see me every selling, I now have 2 engines, 2 diffs, 3 starter motors, 2 clutches, 2 alternators and various other boxes of spares, such is the adiction that is a Cerbera, and I now have no reason to ever consider parting with it!

Doors and windows can be a major irritant - the driver's door on my 4.5 presently requires "the knack". It opens OK then as you pull the door open it puts the window back up so I have to press the button a second time to drop the window in order to close the door. I'm so used to it (and making it look natural so no bystanders can take the piss) that I nearly forgot to add it to the Things To Do list when I booked it in to the workshop today. My fault is mild by the sounds of it but it will be manifesting itself for the same reasons as yours - damp has got into the connections/controllers somewhere and/or microswitches are either damp/damaged/misaligned.

The problem you have is fixable - be prepared to pay a good technician a few hours to go through the whole solenoid release and control box system to get it right. It might be a few hundred quid but that will be less than what you'll lose flogging the car and once it's done, it's done.

And once it's done, you'll soon forget it ever happened as you get back into horizon chasing in the way that only Cerberas can.

Well in my case - two young daughters and I don't want to make a forced choice of "car or family" - it's because to go that fast in something that looks that good and that we can all share and that even the public appreciates as you drive past..... I haven't got another £100k for a DB9.

And if I did, the value of the Cerb would be so negligible in comparison that I'd keep it anyway for the journeys when it was only me and the DB9 wasn't quite vicious enough.

you should put up with it because yours is one of only a few GT cars with the different chassis wishbone mounts and the previous owner was a very very nice chap

All at a cost, I'm afraid.

I'm having am MGB refurbed at the moment, and it's costing three times more than the car will ever be worth.

You are all right, I just needed to hear it again!
The car is special as a GT, and the previous owner was a very nice guy indeed!
A little bit of TVR history.
I will on your advice I will pay someone to go through the whole solenoid release and control box system, like I said I didn't buy the car to skimp on and knew the 3k a year rule!
It is a wild car, and yes seeing the skyline off the other day did feel good, and no the brand new Alpha Spider that I have booked a test drive in prob wouldn't have people taking photos of it on their mobile phones when I stop to fill up....so thanks everyone...onward and deep into the pockets again.

Because when yours has been at the menders for three weeks, as mine has, waiting for parts, you start to get withdrawal symptoms that you would never get with any other car. Then when the time comes to pick it up you are like a kid in a sweet factory.

The problem you have with the doors and windows costs less than £20 per door to fix (if you did it yourself).The wires in the bottom of the door usually sit in water.This obviously corrodes the terminals.There is a switch that hits the cill at the bottom of the door.Take off door card.(8 bolts)and replace this switch.RS Components, part no. 455-3744, this switch can be NC or NO, TVR use Normally closed circuit, so ignore the green wire and just use the white (common) and the brown .Job done.Time taken 1 hour tops.

I know how you feel mate. I too am having some problems with mine, but of a different nature. Sorry to hear about it all the same.

In answer to your "someone remind me..." question, I'd say try and remember why you bought the Cerb in the first place and what drew you to the marque.
