steering wheel , black to silver

Last year I remember someone talking about this and had achieved good results by elbow grease. Can't find it now , so would appreciate anyone's opinion on whether it is possible and how.
Also has anyone changed to a moto-lita wheel, if so which one and did you change the boss too. Thanks.

The paint is a bu$$er to get off, paint stripper won't touch it. Best way ia a polishing/buffer wheel, starting with wet and dry. They do come up well in the end. I've sold a couple on ebay and had positive feedback on them.
