Advice please!!!

Can any of you knowledge-able chaps advise me please.
I am in the middle of deciding on purchasing a sport exhaust for my M12.
I have been reading previous threads from all of you guys and i have gained alot of useful
tips etc.The question i need to know is will i need to get the ECU re-mapped? I know i will need to change my fuel pump and i am going to get the motorsport one.So can anyone advise me on this matter please.

Bare in mind the motorsport pump is quite loud and unless you have a M400 it may not be worth it.

If I was to offer advice it would be this....

Phone John Noble Motorsport [phone], he was the guy who built your engine for Noble.
Tell him what you would like to do, and he will give you levels upon which you can tune your car, and keep it reliable.

He has had M12 producing well of 500bhp reliably, a long time before anybody else managed it.

Oh, and he won't cost the earth.

I have said pump and it is too annoying for me. I agree with the last owner that probably the most important mod is probably to give the std pump its own 12v direct feed.

As your way up north i think it depends how far south you want to come.

Or go for the M400 pump which is quieter than the motorsport one. I have it fitted and it's sounds okay. As stated, it's most important to upgrade with a thicker gauge loom for the fuel pump.

Theres a guy in Aberdeen named Jim Valentine who makes custom made bespoke exhausts.His website is www.2bular.com
and his exhausts look the business.I know the exhausts made by H&S and Roush are top notch but i would have to travel 650 miles x 2,to get them made and fitted.I know the upgraded fuel pump and loom is a must but have heard different views on re-mapping.Living so far up north and with no where up here to do mapping,as the ECU is locked im led to believe, means need to know if it really needs mapped again or not.Thanks for all your replies and information i knew you guys would help.

I've only herd one in a car and It sounded like a large bee in the car with you. Maybe it was a odd ball one.

Its worse than that mate, i suppose when playing it is not noticeable, but when pottering about it is annoying. Thinking of changing when i do the Le Mans trip as 600-700 mile trip may well drive me insane with the pump as it is! I have not investigated, but thought it may be possible to wrap the pump sopmehow in sound deadening material?

I had an M400 pump fitted a while back and found it very annoying, so loud that I thought the pump may have been faulty. I just got the pump swopped for another one which is just as noisy!

I intend on lining the wall between the pump compartment infront of rear n/s wheel arch with something like dynamat to dull the noise down.

I'm not that techy so I can't really comment on the merits of what each pump does, but I'm told that the M400 pump is fine to handle any of the exhaust upgrades on a 3R and that the M400 may want an upgrade to an 044 pump or the motorsport one. (on the noblemods site) both are fine but these may be even noisier still.

I have the Roush exhaust and a 0044 pump I can't tell the difference in pump noise level. having said that maybe the exhaust is just drowning the pump sound out!

Have the map checked as some engines suffer from valve surge at higher boost levels and that will eventually kill the valve train.
even on a standard car it is advisable to have this checked.

Have any of you tried the likes of the Walbro Pumps??

Walbro 255L as the name suggests will flow 255L per hour @ 3bar which is not far off from the Bosch 044 which flows 270L per hour @ 3bar.

The Walbro is also available for around £65 compared to the Bosch which in some cases is 3 times that cost..

IIRC the Motorsport pump is supposed to be wrapped in neoprene before being fitted to reduce the vibration/noise.
