Hi all
Anyone know if the wing mirrors on a Chim 4.5 2000 will "fold" flat against the door?

I can get mine to about 45 degrees but I am reluctant to force them any further in case they come of in my hand.

It would help if I knew if they were supposed to fully collapse

Is it me or aare garages getting smaller? :-)

Hi Adrian,
I have had a look at the mirrors on my 97 Chim and they dont fold in very far because they hit the top of the door, (if you know what I mean)I have taken some photos of the mirror out and with the mirror in, so you can see if it is the same as yours, so if you let me have your email address i will pass them on.
Hope this helps, Rob.

Thanks Kev,
I have sent them to him now, but you will have to show me how to do this some time, it will save a bit of messing around in the future.
Any news on the car ?

Thanks for that Robert

I see what you mean. I don't recall mine touching the door like yours. I will
investigate

Thanks for the trouble you have gone to, much appreciated

Just don't force them.

There is a metal "toad stool" that connects the mirror body to the car that is designed to break in the event of an impact, if you break this it is a nightmare to get it replaced. Mine never pulled flush to the body, and if you keep moving them they will work lose and then move back towards the bodywork at anything over 50mph. In the end I replaced mine!

Thanks to all for your advice. I think I will just stick a bit of foam at mirror height on the inside edge of the garage opening.

Again with a mirror theme:

I have great difictly seeing out the back when going topless. Have been thinking ofadding another mirror aboce the existing one to "see" over the folded roof. Anyone done something similar that can advise on pitfalls?
