Quick question - has anyone bothered removing the rubber inserts on the bonnet vents on a 6.0 vxr will it make much difference to cold air flow into the engine bay? Also is there any kind of cold air intake system for a NA setup I have cat backs and re-map on the cards.

I think monkfish has the best option for cai at the minute, there was talk about it the other week, something like a proper replacement rather than the airbox mods. LSV or any of the wortec folk do the cai mod too

with the performance of the car and the little real benefit induction kits make, I'm interested in the monkfish solution for noise reasons alone.

I think some of the forced induction guys have removed the rubber stops from the vents, infact i remember seeing some one do it at Ace Cafe. No idea on results though.

Cooler is always better, however, does have risks of water getting in through the vents and onto the electics - I'm sure some revised fuel rail covers will appear sometime in the near future

I have never had the rubber in the vents since I had the supercharger fitted - Greens left them in the boot and I think they are still there

Not sure you would gain much in a NA setup though

Yeah Greens stuffed mine in the boot too when they fitted the supercharger so I guess they think it works.
Don`t know wether its worth putting some sort of clip`s on to hold the heat mat in place so it don`t sag long term.

Removing the vents stops the heat getting trapped when stationary more than when moving along. Whether it makes a real difference, who knows?? Just kept things a little cooler when standing in traffic etc which has to be a good thing.

I agree with Greens on a cold day stuck in traffic you can see the heat pouring out of the nostrils. Cool is COOL.
