Going around a corner the seats in my Chim seem to 'lurch' one way and then come back again. Is this like the BMW M5 when you hit the 'sport' button and the lumbar supports wrap around you and hold you in ?? Only they're more sophisticated and release you when you've come out of the corner.

After half an hour or so I also find the backs of my thighs ache and the support in the back of the seat across my shoulders not in the right place. Is it just me or are the seats a known 'Chim' feature that people put up with ??

I've read some threads about people fitting diferent seats and some have problems with them but what does and does not fit ?? Is it a problem with the seat runners not being the same ?? If you're lanky like me and other lanky people are going to drive the car why not bolt the seat straight to the floor ??

So, what fits and what looks good ??!!

Odd, the seats in neither of my Chimaeras have ever lurched like that... Are they correctly bolted in? I used to slide around a bit on the leather, but that is all... Maybe 4 point harnesses would help?

Err they should be...

There are also spacers under the front of the drivers seat, you can add any you like to adjust the base height rake to suit ~ it also helps spread the load if you make up some spacers.

I have short legs and find the seats really comfy, maybe adjusting your pedals right down would help (If you havent already). Been thinking of fitting full harnesses though as there are no airbags and my seatbelt reel is a bit sticky. Has anyone fitted harnesses? Is it an expensive job?

Plenty of threads that spell out the dangers of fitting harness without rollbar......

Sorry, I meant without the seat runners. If I don't need them as I have it as far back as it goes then fitting other seats shouldn't be a problem, if it was the difference in the seat runners that made it difficult to fit others.

When I recently removed my seats, I found whilst refitting them that I can adjust the angle relative to the car when the bolts are loosened. What seems to happen is that the trapezoid spacers on the front edges swivel which combined with the fact that the fore-aft adjustment only holds one runner, allows the seat to swivel.

Basically, tighten the bolts from underneath once you've selected the optimal angle!

Thanks, sounds like it could be it, it did indeed 'swivel' a bit !!

I have been considering changing the seats in my chim. There's plenty of posts about fitting Cerbera or Tuscan seats. However these seem to be quite hard to get hold of especially in the right colour. Surely the seats in some of the mass produced 2 seaters would fit e.g MX5, Z3, Z4, TT, Boxster, MR2 Etc. Just woundered if anyone has had a go at fitting any of these and what the outcome was?

I find the Chimaera seats really comfortable. As Top Gear noted bck then, they do distribute and support your body weight uncannily evenly. The seats themselves do lack lateral support but as you're wedged between the transmission tunnel and door anyway...
