Engine's currently out the car waiting for a new release bearing. Took a wee ski-break 2 weeks ago, and had this week planned to be getting the engine back in and ready to roll.

Except I broke a d@mned leg. Jeez, I've been skiing over 40 years (43 I think) and have never broken a bone in my life. Spent a few days with a guide where we skied pretty much everything that could be skied in the Chamonix valley, then having done the black runs, the bumps, the trees, the powder stashes, we did an 'easy' day in Courmayer. Cruising down an easy run, I just get thrown off the skis and ended up with a broken tib and fib.

Have to say the French health service is astonishing. Did a great job and put a plate in. Got home yesterday, and checking in to the UK equivalant is like being in the third world. Dirty, old equipment, long waits, crabby jobsworth staff, no parking, no mobiles. Tip. If you want to break something, do it in France. Even the BUPA policy I've been paying for can't get me a specialist for 3 weeks

Bottom line is being pretty much totally immobilised for 6 weeks, and maybe 12 weeks before it's mended enough to start putting cars back together. So, if I'm real real lucky I might get out on track near the end of the summer. Grrrrrrr

Bloody hell Willie!

That's not good.

I guess you won't be travelling much so won't have to put up with the vagaries of the airlines for a while - so there's a positive.

Chill out and get well.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Willie,

That's incredibly bad luck. Don't suppose you can take the holiday supply company to court because they mis-described the holiday they sold you? They wouldn't have a leg to stand on... hold on, that's you...

If the car needs some exercise in the meantime, let me know - I could take it to Croft in a couple of weeks, you know, just to help you out...

.. or the Ring later in the year evil

At least it might give you a rest from travelling for a few weeks.

All the best...

Willie,

get well soon, and hopefully you'll be up and around and driving before too long. If I lived locally, I'd offer to help get your engine in with you!

Get well soon.

At least it was a break and not torn tendons. They take even longer to heal up.
