Hiya People

I think this maybe the first of many posts,
i am now the proud owner of an 02 Vogue but am missing the owners manual this is not a major problem as i love playing with the gadgets and gizmo's to find out how they work.
and have mastered many but i am at a loss as to how the drivers seat keeps moving to a different position after i lock the car.
so everytime i go to get in the seat has moved itself so far forward that i cannot get in, i then have to lean in to start it and press my memory button to move it back to my setting.
i am assuming that there is a simple explanation for this but i am baffled as to how to remedy it. after reading lots of posts i am unable to find a thread with a similar problem.
I hope there is someone out there that can help!!

I don't 'know' the answer but would guess at the memory you are using is not the memory associated with the key you are using. Don't know if LR keys are programmed but this is how it is done on some other makes.
When you turn off it is saying to itself I had better go back to the real settings for that key after someone has buggered about with them.

Waits to be told how wrong I am.

If it's a runout model of the P38 on an 02 (as opposed to one of the first new model) then the keys are associated with the seat memories. The white label on the key will tell you which key it is, and key 1 will recall seat pos 1 and key 2 will do pos 2.

Here are instructions for how to set key memory for Jaguar, I would imagine that Land Rover works about the same:

if you take it to you local dealer they will turn this function off for you, I had the same problem only in reverse I had to sit with the seat as far back as it would go and then move it all the way forwards, not at all embarassing!!

That is partly correct. Whichever key you unlock the car with will put the seat into the corresponding memory position but you have to hold down the unlock button until the seat starts to move. Then let go of the button and the seat will make it's way to the memory position associated with that key.

A single push of the key fob button will not move the seat although it will lock and unlock the car.
