Sorry if this has already been posted (Pistonheads search facility not currently working)

Does anybody know if the above are an Alfa or other marque item?

Yes, I've heard Tarquin and others go on about this before but, without the Bosch part number of the Alfa part to cross check, it just seems to be hype and rumour. Looking similar is just not good enough unfortunately.

For the record, the Bosch part fitted to the Maserati is 0 280 752 029. If someone knows the direct equivalent @ £200 retail, I am very interested.

Hope this helps

That part direct from bosch is approx £255 + vat - mind you , failure is uncommon it can normally be cleaned and reset.

agree with saint - electonic parts rarely "fail', but when they do they stay failed. Most intermittent, annoying electronic faults are interconnect issues or "interference". The connectiosn can be cleaned for the first issue and extra earthing or shielding fitted for the latter.
Spent 9 years swapping out black boxes on aircraft - maybe 15% were ever confirmed faulty in bench tests.

True, the connectors can sometimes be cleaned and reconnected but this part does sometimes fail unfortunately - It is a mechanical part, not solid state by the way. A basic parameter check on an SD2/3 will immediately show whether the difference between the 2 independent POT circuits is enough to require replacement.

Saint, which Bosch dealer please and are we talking trade net or retail?

Hope this helps

I have posted a new discussion over on sportsalfa.com to see if someone can have a look at their GTV throttle pot and match up the numbers.

If it helps, my mechanic - an Alfa specialist - checked a slight fault on my 3200GT throttle pot last month and told me that it is the same part as found on the Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 v6 24v.

Not sure if that helps a lot, but thought I would mention it nonetheless.

SC Motor factors can help you with the price, which i believe is a retail price. These potentiometers do fail because the have two tracks that are moving constantly against a printed circuit and unfortunately they do wear out and do fail. Not all electronic parts do fail instantly and permanenetly and can be troublesome, fact of life sadly.

Generally main dealers fail these potentiometers without doing the obvious checks first.

Hope this helps

bumping this one - any definitive answer on alternate part identity/supply/cost?

Went over one of the many potholes, and was enough to knock into rev limit mode, so taking this as a nudge to get throttle potentiometer and/or body sorted. Can anyone provide a bit more detail for diagnosing if throttle pedal or engine body are culprits? If replacing one would you normally do the other anyway?

Cheers,
M

Well these throttle potentiometers are a common problem. David Askew has just got in some that were refurbed in Italy no doubt at a reasonable price. His email davidaskew@onetel.com

Having clearly registered as David Askew, why do you post in the third person?

No matter, I think the original thread topic was whether an Alfa part could be cross referenced with the Maserati item and the answer to that would appear negative.

Hope this helps

My post was added by a customer trying to help. I have deleted it. I disagree with using forums to advertise and would much appreciate if you could delete the quote of my post, from the post above.Thankyou.

I have a customer who told me he was in the process of fitting an Alfa one to his car, if I can remember who it was I will try to find out his progress and let you know.

Why the hell did a customer have access to your newly registered account?
