C5 Electric Window
Discussion
The passenger side electric window on my 2001 C5 Coupe has recently stopped working. My local Stratstone tell me that the motor has seized and I need a new regulator (I believe the motor and regulator come as one unit). Is there anything else I can do to free up the motor, before I go shelling out several hundred quid on a whole new regulator? Any advice greatly appreciated...

They usually stop working through lack of use, sure we can sort it give us a call !
Happens quite often as said before in this thread, due to lack of use. Get into the habit of winding down and up both windows each time you start her up. If its already stuck, start the engine, press the down button and quickly whack the door card with a flat hand pretty hard a few times. Always works for me !! Some prefer to press the button and slam the door a few times. I prefer the first method though. Good luck! Should save you a few quid.

Makes you feel good about the design of modern technology when electronic items can be fixed by the good old-fashioned technique of thumping them back into life !

Yeah, doesn't it just !!! My Grandad used to fix his old valve wireless set in exactly the same way. When it crackles - whack it one ! Job done. Oh well, guess its good to know that not all the old engineering skills have been lost!
