Hi all, new to this forum, thinking about buying a GT3 Mk1.

Lots around on PH but not many are selling, what's a sensible price range?

Spec of the car I am looking at is;

2000 UK car
15,000miles
FPSH
No track use
Comfort spec
4 owners
Mint condition no paint/panel damage
Owner happy to put car through OPC inspection

Thanks in advance,
George.

I *think* they are around the 40k mark, depending on miles/condition etc... Mk2's tend to be slightly more expensive at the moment, but not by much from what i've seen (i try not to look!)

If it's really good one, then £42.5k(ish).

Anyone wanting it for track use will probably want to fit the seats, harnesses etc.

Dan's been looking for a while and he had several PPI'd. Based on his feedback, £45k all day for a good one.

Do we presume the chap selling had another car in the pipeline and has received an offer from an OPC for the GT3? If so, what do we think he'll have been bid? £32k? £35k? More due to low miles?

IF we guess he's been offered mid £30k's, I'd start at £37,500 and then depending how much you like that specific car decide if you stop haggling at £40k, £42k or £45k.

Mine's priceless! I'd say the one you are looking at will be £38k - £45k depending on a few things.

How's the clutch? Mine was very, very heavy and needs replacing. Are the brakes stock or upgraded? Either way, how near is a new set of discs/pads?

Check left rear damper for signs of leaking - seems not uncommon - though at 15k miles I wouldn't expect it.

Budget for proper seats (ie buckets) and clubsport flywheel/clutch. Allow for possible alcon/brembo floaters if you plan a lot of tracking.

Goo luck

Personally I don't think you will find a MK1 for less than around 44K that is any good or not LHD / high miles etc.

No track use ...........yeaaaaa !

Anywhere between £40k and £45k for RHD and abuse for a good one.

I was in your shoes about 4 months ago..
I set my mind to get a MK1, but at the same time had a look at a few MK2's..

The price does not matter.. get her PPI'd before you talk price.. I had a few PPI's done that were BAD ! one of them, the car looked very nice, I did the normal checks, all looked good, had her PPI'd - £9000 worth of work required !!(on a 25,000 miles 2000/V)

I have brought mine. (hope to collect her in the next few days), if the one I had brought had turned out to be not a nice one I was going to look at this one next -

Talk to Parr and JZM they know a lot of GT3's and may have serviced or looked after the one your looking at ??

In my mind, you will not find a nice MK1 for under £44,000 ! And the reason for them not selling that fast, is a)- There not that nice, or b)- The owner knows what he has and will not take stupid offers on it.
There getting a rare breed the MK1, and the nice ones are even rarer.

Forget Colour, forget spec... If you like it get it PPI'd and buy the best one you can.

As I was told by Parr and JZM, you can find one for £40-42,000 but may need some work, so why not buy a very nice one to begin with.

BUY ON CONDITION AND PPI REPORT.(NOT ON PRICE)

Guys,
I am overwhelmed - this is one responsive forum!

Thanks for the advice, I agree the car probably has been on a track, that's fine it'll hopefully know it's way round then ;-)

Car looks very good only thing is the service history, it's all OPC but every two years which might screw up the chance of getting an OPC warranty on it as the std interval is annual for a Mk1 I think.

I am worried about (a) engine failure - unheard of I know, (b) gearbox syncro failure, is this a common problem?

Dan, could you PM me with details of your car + price paid?

Thanks, will keep you all posted,
Geo.

Sorry I have to disagree, I sold mine last December for less than that with 39,000 miles on the clock, not abused, new tyres, recent brakes etc, if you were being REALLY fussy the diff pre-load was slightly down and the dampers were probably ripe for replacement. But I reckon £42K is closer to the mark for a tidy original car.

So a question to the collective re Mk1 values.
I have had my Zanzibar ClubSport for 7 years now, I am only the second owner. Has full service, first by OPC at Tonbridge, then PARR.
Has all the upgrades, JRZ suspension, 6 pot brakes, carbon RS rear air scoop, Manthey K400 upgrade, Twin harnesses. The list goes on and on. However, the track use is minimal. 4 outings in toatl i think. Spa, Le Man Bugatti, Brands Hatch, and a trip to Bedford. Don't believe me, then query the Titanic mob, she is a well knnown car, but never seen on track.
Now the bad point(maybe) mileage is 55K. Mostly done on my yearly Euro trips, visiting friends in France, and just driving it around because that's what they were made for.
I have 3 sets of wheels, the original exhaust and suspension if someone was sad enough to neuter her.
So whats the opinion price wise? Not saying i am selling, just thinking it's time to let her go, as i have racked up about 1K miles in the last 18 months. She needs the excersise i have very little time for...

Mine is absolutely an absolutely mint 2001 model car but "high" miles at 39,000 and LHD.

Yours for £38k
