Thanks

Hi
I seem to have had the very same problem (I used to own CUE99T's car). It was essentially down to the throttle bottles that needed a good clean. Apparently the carbon deposits build up when you are only doing short runs (which i was certainly doing).
I took the car down to HR Owen and one of the kind engineers on a Saturday gave them a good clean - took 1/2 hour! Car was back to normal thereafter after a long run.
regards

Hey Carl
Heading down to Old St tomorrow night for some drinks, fancy it?
Has anyone attempted to clean the throttle bodies on the car? mine need sorting out again and I dont fancy the the few hours return drive to Acton or Mike Pullens when nothing else needs sorting on the car. Is this an easy DIY job?
Cheers

I did 900 miles last month so no chance of it clogging up on mine!!!!
altho the bastart wipers keep going mad in the rain with all the spray coming up from underneath.....anyone else solved this....a mate says he boxed his off then silcone sealed the unit for the wipers and it sorted it!!

Mandeep, I've done mine, really easy!! Here's how to do it, slacken the jubilee clip from around each of the rubber boots (that connect each of the 4 throttle bodies to the air filters) and gently pull them to one side. Spray a littly carb cleaner into the throttle bodies and wipe away with a clean, lint free cloth. You should see traces of black carbon type stuff on the cloth. Pop the boots back into place and tighten the jubilee clips and thats it!! Job done!! I had to do it as the car was hunting on idle but had no CEL problems. Good luck
Thanks Mate
Mine has started to chase again, had them cleaned about 8 months ago so not bad.. although why they wern't cleaned at my last service last month I dont know!!!
Did you have the engine running whilst cleaning the bodies? any carb cleaner in particular? any fragile bits in there that my clumsy ass needs to be wary of?
Cheers

Engine not running, any carb cleaner pal, I used Wurth but I believe they're all pretty much the same. Nothing really to break but give each body a good dose of cleaner and a wipe over and that should do the trick!!

I hope i can get some advice here.. I have found the problem on my Murcielago and it comes back to one of the bodies.. Ive swapped them all around to many times but i have one that when i swap it Left comes up or i swap it tp the other side of the engine and Right comes up.. Should i send just the body to HR Owen or is there anyone that repairs the Magnetti units..

Assuming the throttle butterfly is operating correctly (I assume you've exercised it to check smooth operation) the most likely cause of the problem will be the throttle potentiometer.
It's very tricky to repair these and, last time I looked, replacement ones are around £1500 each.
I just got home from picking the car up from HR Owen. I got to say Sean in service is a real good guy to deal with there.. Fixed the probelem and cherged me 30mins labour.. I had heard crazy stories how they screw you on labour but that crushed that myth...
Thanks for everyones help...

Sean at London and Saj at Manchester are both great guys. Did you see SG54 in the workshop there? Had a bit of a disaster yesterday. Fri 13th and all that.
